The rampant speculation (I know all we have) as to why this happened....which many seem to have now taken as fact and are spewing venomous anger toward Mr,. I do not understand why this happened...no one does.  It does not matter how many theories are out there.  I wish Mr. Richardson would tell us but he likely will not.  This is a personnel issue and that is universally treated with discretion among professionals.

I prefer now to turn my focus on the excitement of seeing Cam throw the football after all these months...to see our rookies in their 1st NFL action..and when the season starts..to see "The Evolution."

Nothing wrong with having opinions but a lot of this stuff is over the top..some quite unbelievable.  I am going to trust that Mr. Richardson would not have made such a bold move at this time if he did not have a good reason.  I do not of course know what that is and neither do any of you.

Usually agree with you LP but going to disagree. 

Jerry Richardson owes a written explanation or a ghost written statement of why he fired our team's most successful GM ever whilst working with no cap space at all. 

He used Gettleman to get this back into the clear only to fire him and hire the man who got us in this mess in the first place. 

I love the Panthers, but blind loyalty does not equal faith. Especially when we have evidence to the contrary that JR was making a logical, informed decision and not a knee-jerk emotional one.

If anyone needs to put their big boy pants on it's JR and not fire our GM with no viable backup 8 days before camp starts and weeks before we have to cut the roster down to 53.

I have been very busy this off-season with many trips to Charlotte for meetings. It paid off!

Some of you were wondering why I was not around much following last season's disaster. I pushed for change and I finally got what the Panthers needed to push this franchise to greatness.

Now, I have secured a job in Charlotte at least for the next year. Life is good! Deal with it!

I agree with this.  I just don't think that this decision is worth the hysteria that has arisen.  He's not going to do much other than work out Davis' and Olsen's extensions and approve a bunch of expenses for the scouting staff.  The real work for a GM comes in the spring.

When there is only one link in the chain of command, namely the owner, then everyone under him including Rivera just lost some authority.  So dumb on so many levels from JR.  Just complain to Daddy if you don't like something.

Gman gave a lot of cover for JR and Rivera.  Rivera could always play good cop while Gman was doing the hard things.

So, NOTHING this franchise has done in the last two decades gives any indication that our owner knows what he is doing? Not being the one fastest expansion teams to go to a conference championship game? Not getting to two Super Bowls? Not winning the most NFC South championships?

None of that?

Do I agree with what he did recently? No. But why such unnecessarily, inaccurate, and hyperbolic statements?

Thank you!  Everyone is obviously allowed to view things however they want, but I agree with the OP.  I might not agree with everything JR does, but I do realize I wouldn't have a team to hardcore cheer for if it weren't for him.
