I'm still trying to figure out how CMC ever came close to "getting killed". He looked fine to me and he never took a hard hit. Hell, Funchess is the one who got blown up because the throw led him into a hard hit.

Did CMC do even 1 out of the back field route / catch? 

I wanted to see him do that one where he goes up and smokes the LB on a slant or out route.

Most of us are praying we are just saving that for the season, but majority of us already know this is going to be a theme all season. "Why TF is Shula making CMC stay in to block?". "Why TF isn't Shula getting CMC in space?". "Why TF is Shula running CMC up the gut 3 straight times?". We've seen this movie before. Same sh*t, different year.

How much do you want to bet that CMC gets some catches out of the backfield when it matters? It's utterly ridiculous to be bashing the OC based on 4-5 plays in the freaking pre season.

Lets wait and see what happens as the preseason progresses. CMC was used primarily as a running back this game. One screen attempt that got batted down. Maybe there is a progression in the installation and additional complexity is being added daily. But I am clear that our offense is not close to what we will run when the real bullets begin flying. After all McCaffrey missed all of OTAs and we are two weeks into training camp. Plenty more to install.

NfL football is basically baby football from a tactical perspective. Pretty sure Shula can figure it out. This isn't the playbook we'll see in-season and we all know that. 

The question is whether he can out-maneuver 31 other guys who also know their sh*t, or whether he'll just get gamed again.

Pretty much... notice how mccaffrey had 0 catches and like maybe 1 target? Something going on there especially since we know hes so good a receiving. Saving it for game 1 most likely.
