Any interest in Hurns?

Via CBS Sports:

Hurns may be on the trade block, Ryan O'Halloran of the Florida Times-Union reports.

Signed to a four-year, $40 million contract last offseason, Hurns was ineffective and plagued by injuries throughout a 2016 season in which Marqise Lee (ankle) enjoyed a breakout. With the Jags now aiming for a run-heavy approach and also adding wideout Dede Westbrook in the fourth round of the draft, it's easy to see how Hurns has so quickly become expendable. Of course, the team probably won't just give him away for a late-round pick -- particularly not while Lee is sidelined with a high-ankle sprain. The Jags might consider moving Hurns for a middle-round pick or offensive line help.

May be an upgrade at WR3 or WR2 actually. His price may be too steep. Perhaps a candidate for the Bills. But if they'd pay that for him, why not pay us for something cheaper?

He's 25 yo. He is a draft pick in himself.

Draft pick is fine, draft pick plus his contract is not.  He's making an avg of 10 mil/year, taking on that contract would severely hurt our chances of resigning some of  our guys in the next 2 years, especially Norwell.

So Jags wouldn't be paying out any of his money at all?

    • His on target percentage is way down. 79% last year down to 64% this year.
    • I think we will surprise. We'll run all over them, and Dalton will be able to spread the ball around more effectively than Bryce. I just don't see a blowout like some are predicting. I heard the same thing about the Cowboys, but the Bills don't have anything close to Pickens. Not guaranteeing a win or anything, but it is possible. It will be closer than people think.
    • If you look at almost all Daniels stats, they are as good or better than last year minus perhaps Completion Percentage. I don't think Daniels himself is having very much less individual success than the Redskins are reverting to the mean.  https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/46003861/nfl-teams-likely-decline-lose-more-games-2025-season-predictions-vikings-chiefs-commanders-lions-colts#wsh Barnwell wrote about them in the preseason as a team that had an inordinate amount of luck or success in one score games that wasn't very likely to be repeated.
