Post Pre-season 53 Man Roster Prediction

Here's who I feel will make the team. We should be keeping 6 WRs especially with Samuel's injuries. Clay averaged almost 11 yards per punt return in Baltimore and he's over 10 now. He has to stay as he is our best punt returner. Anderson has been horrible this preseason and it is time to move on while Gilbert has been lighting it up every time he comes in. He should be our QB3.

The injuries to Love and Butler I believe forces us to keep 5 DTs. I have Crume for now, but I believe we could be watching cuts for someone better. Same with depth for CB and S. If our starters get injured and have to miss time we are in trouble.

Finally, Gano needs to go. He has proven he is not reliable and he hasn't done anything this preseason to change our minds. Like I've said in the game day thread, if Anderson and Gano are still on the team, I don't have much faith in the future with Ron coaching this team.

Pretty much nailed the 53, almost like it was pretty existing in madden, but yea, I agree with you, if Anderson and Gano aren't gone, I have no faith going forward in Rivera either, should have canned Gano last year mid-season imo, send a message that sub par poo like that won't be tolerated

QB: 3.   Cam, DA, Webb -   I think we'll keep Anderson.  Gilbert to PS

RB / FB:  5.    I think we keep all 4 RBs (Stew, CMC, Fozzy, CAP) & Darrel Young

TE:  3.   Olsen, Dickson, Manhertz.

Oline: 9.   Matt K / Norwell / Ryan / Turner / Williams.  Silatolu, Moton, Larsen, FOLKERTS  (Scott to IR)

WR:  KB, Funch, Shepard, Samuel, Byrd.   MAYBE Clay if Samuel not ready for week 1.

DE;  Addison, Peppers, CJ, Horton, Hall.

DT:  KK, Star, Butler, Crume.  ( Love to IR?)

LB:  Luke, TD, Shaq, Mayo, Cash, Jacobs.  (Norris to IR or PS since I think he is injured.)

CB:  Bradberry, Worley, Munnerlyn.  Cole Luke,  FA pick up.  (Willliams & Sanchez injured??? Not sure what we do with them... depends on injury severity...I think we'll keep one of these 2 somehow)

Safety:  Coleman, Adams, Jones, Southward.  (McCray to IR?)  Maybe a FA pick up

Kicker:  BUTKER!

Punter:  tough call.  I lean towards Lee.  Depends on if there's a trade offer.

LS:  JJ

Cole Luke has been our worst CB on the team. @KB_fan

Idk why I can't go back and quote you.

Also, I'm afraid Gilbert will be picked from the PS now.

Cole Luke is about the only healthy CB depth we've got left if Sanchez & Teddy WIlliams are not a go for week 1...  Think Cole Luke is ahead of Jeff Richards.  We really need to bring in a CB.  Hopefully neither Sanchez or Williams will miss time.  But we STILL need another CB even if one of them is healthy.  I predict 6 CBs on roster because CB depth is our biggest issue right now.

    • Congratulations do they know who the father is?
    • In my opinion Fitterer was probably right about not paying McCaffrey. Now not wanting to "pay RBs" in my opinion isn't something you want to set in stone, to me it all comes down to the individual.
    • Maybe I'm just not understanding, but everywhere that I have read says that signing bonuses go against the cap prorated by as much as five years. The following example uses Andrew Luck's rookie contract as an example. "Take Andrew Luck, the first overall pick in the 2012 NFL draft. Luck signed a four-year contract with the Colts worth $22.1 million and included a $14.5 million signing bonus. Rather than a $14.5 million cap hit in 2012, the Colts spread out his signing bonus over the life of his contract. The hit against the cap would be $3.625 million per year over four years instead of a direct cap hit of $14.5 million directly in 2012. This gave the Colts more leverage and cap flexibility in signing other players." https://www.the33rdteam.com/nfl-signing-bonuses-explained/ I don't know why some of you think that signing bonuses aren't counted against the cap over the length of the contract, but whatever.   "The bonus with a signing is usually the most garish aspect of a rookie contract. Bonus is the immediate cash players receive when they ink a deal. It factors into the cap, but only for the whole contract duration, in terms of salary cap calculations. In the case of Bryce Young’s $24.6 million signing bonus, that’s prorated to approximately $6.15 million per season over a four-year deal. This format allows teams to handle the cap and provides rookies with some short-term fiscal stability, which is important given the high injury risk in this league." https://collegefootballnetwork.com/how-rookie-contracts-work-in-the-nfl/ I understand how signing bonuses can be a useful tool in order to manage the cap, and as one of the article suggests, signing bonuses may become important if you have a tight cap, but the bill is always going to come due. I'm not necessarily referring to you Tuka, but it seems to me that others simply don't want to understand that fact which is why they're reacting to what I'm saying negatively. How odd. In any event, I have a better general understanding of why signing bonuses are used now, and it's generally to fit salaries under the cap. Surely players, whether they be rookies or not, love a signing bonus because they get a good portion of their money up front. This in turn gives them more security and probably amounts to tax benefits as well. I also understand why teams would not want to use signing bonuses, particularly for players or draftees who have a higher probability of being gone before a contract even ends.
