Do you trust Shula?

I trust Shula with the current personnel he has on offense.  He has all the pieces for the type of offense that he envisions without having to fit a square peg into a round hole.  I don't trust him to be able to adjust against a defense that is effectively taking away a key playset from his plan.

From what I've seen, the Bills will have a very stout defense this year.  Shula's game plan got a lot of guys open and available for plays.  They were there to be had.  For whatever reason, Cam missed too many layups while only providing a couple of bailout plays himself.  If he makes half the reads and completes the plays where our guys were open underneath, then this game isn't remotely close.

I think Cam will turn this around, and I think people will be singing his praises by the end of the season.  I think Shula will get next to none of the credit for what he has put together schematically.

I think this is reasoned, fair and rational. I also expect that post to get pooped on...and maybe this one too. :)

Nope, not at all.    I don't trust Rivera to make the right choice and move on from Shula either.     The only way we lose Shula is if someone hires him as a HC or Rivera leaves too.    Let's face it, they both are pretty mediocre at their jobs.    Rivera is a great defensive mind, and probably should just be a DC.    His clock management is still the worst in the league.    He sees no issue with calls coming down from Shula super late giving the defense an easy jump.   Game day coaching is meh.     He looks lost sometimes during the games, and still, this many years in.    And Shula is riding that Super Bowl year where Cam bailed him out on so many broken, terrible play calls until he injuries have just piled up.       But this all starts from the top, with JR, and his acceptance of mediocrity over the course of this franchise.    I know he wants to win, so that's what makes it really confusing why we accept it.

And the entire Huddle is giddy with anticipation.  Most are rooting for a losing season just so they can go fire Shula the entire off season. And be disappointed yet again I cant wait. I'm giddy about the fact that he will be here next season just so I can go thru another season of Huddle Magic

We're not rooting for a losing season, all we want is some accountability. When Shula's game plan is working, he looks like an offensive genius. The problem is when it's not, he has no freaking clue what to do. The Broncos D was laughing after the SB because he didn't change anything from the regular season. Once that offensive gameplan was in the shitter, it was a bloodbath. There were ZERO halftime adjustments.

Yes players have to execute and that's not Shula's fault. Cam has to play better. For a 7th year QB as well as franchise QB, watching him still throw off his back foot instead of stepping into the pass and throwing off his planted front foot is maddening. He has to be able to audible out of a play, but that requires getting a play in with more than 5 seconds on the play clock. Our tackles have to block better. Our receivers have to catch the damn ball when it hits their hands. This team needs to improve all around on offense and start doing the little things right.

Everyone has a gameplan until they get hit. Once Shula's hit, it's over. There's no rhythm to the offense, plays take too long to get in, and KB and Funch end up on 40 yard routes when Cam has less than 4 seconds to get off a throw. Some of this stuff is just common football sense, even to a guy sitting on his couch that's had 14 shots of Jager.

Honestly this offense isn't about Shula, its about Cam. If Cam plays well, we will score more than 9 pts. Our playcalling/scheme isn't bad enough to change the outcome of a game. There was maybe 5 poor play calls and maybe 4 poor decisions/throws by Cam. Sometimes poor blocking and penalties happen and that's not on Cam or Shula. I think the doom and gloom is a bit over the top at this point.

The Bills didn't make any mistakes on offense. We had no short fields. It was an early season grinder against a good defensive line.

    • Everyone knew the catch was secured and didn't move. That was clear to the entire audience. The only ones who thought it wasn't a catch were in the NYC home office. They knew they'd just offer an apology the next day.
    • NEVER FORGET!!!!   Canales was on no one's radar. Tepper couldn't get anyone to come here. He was all in on Ben Johnson. Nobody wants to work with Tepper, however Canales tenure may prove important for the next guy. This guy still has no idea what he's doing.
    • The 4th down play was poor execution by Chuba. He didn't want to get physical like Rico and cut North South to lean on his blocks from Tremble and Ekwonu for half a yard. Also, the 3rd down play before that Bryce audibled out to a QB run and almost got the 1st down was on Chuba for not knowing the play call leading to poor execution. You can see Chuba's confusion when Bryce had to realign him. Then Chuba thought he was getting the handoff and was slow to develop his double team on the DE with Tremble. Then Chuba hesitated on pushing the block and just ran to the sideline making Bryce have to loop around him. This pulled the DE away from Tremble forcing Chuba to chip on the DE late and leaving the safety as a free defender. Chuba was suppose to double down on the DE to let Tremble peel off to the safety. This allows Bryce to set up his run to the inside or outside after the safety commits. You can also see Tremble walk over to talk to Chuba after the play and Chuba shrugs which tells me he didn't know what to do. The audible would have worked on 3rd and the dive would have worked on 4th. The plays were good calls and drawn up well. The question is why was Chuba unprepared for those plays in two critical back to back plays? I like Chuba as a 1st down RB and passing downs, but I have always seen him lacking the power and vision to be a short yardage power back. Chuba didn't come prepared for the Saints game or he was thrown into a position at the 3 spot that he was never prepared for.
