Do you trust Jerry to hire another head coach?

I agree with this actually.

I don't mind having another defense oriented coach as long as I know ahead of time he has a strong vision and plan for the offensive side of the ball-and by that I mean, he has a strong OC on deck and will go hands off once the hire is made, while still putting value on that side of the football.

Rivera's problem is that he's a prideful yutz who consistently appears overwhelmed by the job.

His offensive staff is a Whose Who of Who? for seemingly no other reason than to ensure that Rivera feels no external pressure to fire his good buddy Mike Shula and their precious continuity, and its all demonstrably clear on gameday.

Clock management is awful, offensive linemen are consistently confused as to who they're blocking, playcalling that routinely crosses over into inexplicable (running McCaffrey into a wall on crucial late game downs over and over again) and overall just poor offensive play that looks sloppy and poorly coordinated.

Frankly, I'm also starting to wonder if the offensive coaches are too scared of Cam Newton to really get in his ear and grill him. He's still displaying abominable situational awareness for a QB of his years, but the thing is, those issues are fairly correctable if a coach would be just willing to get in his ear on it. Then you look at him blowing off press conferences last week and the impression is that the coaches at too timid to correct him on anything.

Watching Cam he's increased his footwork especially in the pocket so that's a good thing. Cam just needs a brand new offense and to clap back at your last sentence, well Ron did sit him for 1st drive cause of his lack of tie... fuging asswipe clown ass joke of a coach. fug out of Carolina please.

I don't trust Richardson to piss outside of his pants, let alone make coherent personnel decisions.  Time to put him in a home and hand over the keys.

I feel bad for saying it but I can't wait for the day when he doesn't own the team anymore...whatever that means/takes

Agreed. I still respect the man for what he’s done.

He is a lot like old politicians, but that’s another discussion.

Tough to see people making important decisions that talk like an old school punch drunk boxer.

Is what it is.... for now.

When the Panthers franchise first came into existence, the guy that Jerry Richardson wanted to get the whole thing started was Joe Gibbs, but Gibbs turned him down.

I would absolutely love to see Gibbs play a similar role to what Ernie Accorsi did, picking both our new GM and head coach.

But no, that's not gonna happen.

He did the right thing allowing someone else who was better at it to hire the last GM. He should do the same when it comes to a new head coach.

(doubt it'd be Ernie Accorsi after what happened with Gettleman)

Let's be clear though, I'm no more  convinced we're going to be looking for a new head coach anytime soon than I am that we're going to be looking for a new GM.

With the way the NFL is as a whole I would say people would be giving up there PSLs by next year. So I figure the rag tag group keeps there job one more year. Then it's rebuild for another two.

The only negative about Jerry moving on is the risk the team moves...But that's a very small risk

But without Jerry we might actually get an owner that cares about winning...whose sole goal as an owner isn't to suck up to New York every chance he gets (that damn shield!)

Any hire will be a conservative, ball-control type that is built around defense first. Today we learned that great defense gets you nothing if your offense is useless.

Not true. Chicago's D beat us today and their offense was useless. Of course this game will probably reinforce JRs mindset about a defensive coach and set us back another 10 years.
