Some where glad that D.G got fired...still smiling?

You now have the beloved Hurney back as the ship starts taking on water. If you think Hurney is leaving your nuts. He is and always will be J.R"s stooge. There was hope when the fat man was here, sure he made some enemies and some mistakes,  but he could handle the pocket book and got this team two NFC championships and a SB.

The charade is just beginning with this bozo back at the helm. Just wait and see what the next couple of years bring.  This trade is the first kick in the balls for this organization with M.H back as GM. Good luck to all Panther fans....we will need it.

This is Gettleman's roster.

Cutting all our receivers and forcing Jordan Gross out in 2014.

Cutting Josh Norman in 2016 and drafting three corners to replace him, only one of which his really good.

Letting Ted Ginn leave this year and trying to make Olsen and Davis follow.

All while leaving a gaping hole at left tackle he had four years to fix and a massive, self-created hole at cornerback that he made for no other reason than he didn't like an agent.

Make no mistake: This is Dave Gettleman's roster.

Hurney is bad too, but this is the first egregiously bad thing he's done so far and Gettleman had like a half-dozen of them.

Gettleman wasn't a good gm. At least Hurney never missed on first rounders.

Maybe Dave wasn't good, but he was better than Hurney.  Hurney started in 04, and we had two winning seasons under his guidance.  Two out of 8 or 9.

Hurney did pick Jeff Otah in the first.  But his second round picks were pretty bad.  Eric Shelton, Dwayne Jarrett, Everette Brown, Clausen, and trading a second for a third to get Armanti Edwards.

Hurney sucking doesn't mean Gettleman was good.  Trading away KB was stupid, but Our last 3 first rounders look like role players in Shaq, Butler, and CMC.  O-line has absolutely gone to poo after he hit on Turner and Norwell his first year.  Cutting Norman was insanely stupid, and we haven't been able to replicate the turnover rate since that insanely stupid decision.  The point I'm making is Hurney sucks, but Gettleman wasn't good either.

I'm amazed that you're still defending hurney

I am not defending Hurney, I don't think he is nearly as bad as many on this board make him out to be, but I'm not defending his mistakes. I'm not happy about today's trade. I'm just tired of reading about the Panthers crazy ex that everyone wants to get back together with.

We need a completely new GM. And a new coach.. And a new owner. Haha

    • Yep. I was hoping for and calling for a day three guy. But I didn’t research the position to say if we should or should‘t have jumped at a particular guy at a particular spot.    And everything I read said it was a poor draft for RBs depth wise. I guess when Seattle takes a backup RB in the 1st, that kind of backs that up.    I definitely think we should keep 4 running backs and if King can play well enough then keep him too.    I believe I heard Canales say we are a running team (talking about drafting a WR he will be needing to block as well as catch). Well if we are gonna be a running team by identity we don’t need to stock the WR room to overflowing. If one room has to sacrifice, it should not be the RB room given our circumstances.
    • If there's a pattern I'm definitely picking up from Dan and company is a philosophy of making trades where we try not to sacrifice the number of draft picks we have by day's end. In other words, we're not giving up three picks for one, or giving up a future pick to make a pick today. And even if we give up something at the start, we make trades later to make up for that initial loss. Here's how it stacked up for 2026: How we started: 19, 51, 83, 119, 158, 159, 200 How we ended: 19, 49, 83, 129, 144, 151, 227 (no future picks sacrificed) Ultimately, we moved up two spots in the second to ensure we got someone we coveted, gave up a few spots for our fourth round pick, but then had better picks in the 5th (and got really good value out of them), and had a worse 7th rounder which isn't that big of a loss anyways.  At this point, we can question who they draft, but they're pretty good maneuvering across the draft board.
    • I just saw the funniest thing...or very disappointing, depending how you handle misery. A guy on YouTube did a 2027 'way too early' mock draft.  If I told you the simulator has the Panthers selecting in the top 10 , what would you say?  If I told you it was pick #8 and only two QBs were taken in the top 7, what would you say?  If I told you this dude had us taking a defensive player, what would you say?
