Panthers linebacker Thomas Davis said on PFT Live that teammates made sure Newton won’t make that comparison again.

“Absolutely. You know we definitely did that. We gave him a hard time about that,” Davis said. “We’re not trying to be that ship that sinks.”

Clearly cam meant to say Lusitania, as the cutting of Kelvin would be the galvanizing event which would lead to Carolina going into full war mode.

I'm pretty sure this is not the first time Cam's been given a hard time over something he said in a press conference. Won't surprise me if it's not the last.

Days later and the press is still asking questions and obsessing about this silly thing.

This doesn't come off as a major thing to me.

Newton makes poor analogies and off the wall statements in press conferences. It's a quirk of his. To me, that's no big deal.  

Comparisons have been made to Yogi Berra. I'm fine with that, because as comical is he could be, Yogi could also do his job.

Davis' comments tell me that the guys in the locker room think it's funny, not problematic. I feel the same.

I have to admit Cam's lat two Wednesday press conferences have showed a happier side of himself. Refreshing to watch him with a smile on your face from start to finish.
