Gettleman's/Saca's "All-Stars" Thread

A catch-all for the horrible picks, signees, and investments Gettleman made leaving our team completely bereft of talent outside of core players Hurney left him, all while he dumped true game changers in the process and got our QB beaten to a pulp.  Also, a counter thread to the fluff, twitter-snippet-video analysis pieces Saca makes to hype up bums that keep losing us games.

Russell Shepard.  Sucks.  Sucks on ST, sucks on offense.  Sucks.  Should've kept Ginn.

Matt Kalil.  Sucks.  Leads the league in penalties for tackles.  Should be out of the league after he is done here.

Devin Funchess - average, serviceable receiver.  Not a #1, but sadly all we currently have.  Inconsistent hands, lacks field awareness, needs a breather every two or three plays.  Closer to LaFell than Muhammad in comparing him to past Panther receivers.

Christian McCafferey...  a reach, as many Gettleman picks are.  Questionable productivity qhen considering volume, but there's possibly 3 or 4 rookie RBs clearly better than him.  College explosiveness did not translate to pros and he isn't even very effective as just a gadget back.  #8 picks should be game changers...  not Danny Woodhead.

Daryl Worley.  Trash.  Will always be trash.

Shaq Thompson.  Trash.  Will always be trash.

Vernon Butler.  On a milk carton when he's not getting penalties.

Bradberry.  Regressed.

Trai Turner.  Overrated.  Not worth the money.

And speaking of that...  I hate to throw him in here, but KK Short has not been worth the money.  His accumulated stats to this point have been fairly inconsequential and he all but disappears in the biggest games.  He has not been worth the money he signed for.

You don't need twitter videos to tell you whether a guy can play or not, nor do you need in-depth, meticulous analysis like "There was an overthrow because the receiver was covered" or "watch thomas davis get beat on this angle route by a great receiving back one time.  He has lost a step," to be able to use your eyes and determine whether a player is playing up to expectations.  Cam has no weapons.  Luke is playing with an incompetent supporting cast.  We are hard to watch, and it all begins and ends with Gettleman's decisions.  Hurney has made franchise-changing picks in the first round, but he is a complete dolt when it comes to in-season roster management.  Regardless, the roster needs an overhaul around Cam and Luke.  Hurney, Rivera, and Shula need to go.

Our 8 wins are hollow.

I'm struggling to find a ton there to disagree with if I'm being honest.

I think you were a little harsh on Shaq. I don't think he's trash, but he's definitely not what you're hoping for out of a first round pick. He's not an impact player. Basically an average-ish starting caliber LB and that's benefitting in playing behind a solid DL and in a very LB friendly system. Probably wouldn't look this "good" elsewhere.

Man Saca is really in your head lol

I don't even know why lmao. It's hilarious how much attention I'm getting around here just because I'm usually the only one providing content.

Feel free to do that if you want. I really could care less if I'm right or wrong.

Sorry, he is excellent in plays that require  no reads or decisions after the snap... as in, edge rushing.  If he has to cover a man or zone, he is getting beat.  If he has to make a play on a ball he somehow mistakenly happens to be in position for, he misses it.  He may not be trash then, but he certainly is not starting material.

Fugged up being a hard ass when it came to Norman. He shut down a whole side of the field, and made KurtCo. Bradberry is good, but QBs aren't scared to throw at him. Only reason they don't is why throw his way when I've got Worley/Seymour on the other side that'll allow this easy completion.

Kalil is trash, and is not worth his contract. Should've went after Whitworth and had him play while we develop our LT of the future

    • To start with, you wouldn’t want to count up that value chart. You would see quickly where that is headed. But you basically did a quantity comparison, while ignoring quality.  I am looking at 2023 as the start, because it became all about Bryce.  2023 you have 4 picks plus DJ Moore for offense vs 2 (80 and 145) for defense.  2024 you got the 1st overall, the 32, the 46 and the 101 for offense vs 72, 157, 200 and 240 for defense. Leave the FA IOL out of it. Which was a crazy big  investment. But it wasn’t draft.  Anyway, that is basically 4 top 100 picks for offense and 4 picks for defense in 2024. Except they were 2 first rounders, the second rounder, and the 4th was really high at 101. Vs 72 and day three stuff. Please….  Second quoted/bolded… See you think we hate Bryce. That isn’t it at all. It is nice easy way to characterize us and discredit our talking points though.   Me, I do mostly hate watching him play. But I don’t hate the person. I hate the hell out of the stanning.  It started with the very first question I asked about his footwork, arm strength, and size. Height being the principle objection. I never even got to the durability factor. There was plenty without factoring that in.  But there was rabid opposition to even asking the question of what a couple of small fractions of a second extra closing time would do for the defenders.  What the extra time it takes to flip the hips would do vs a pass rush or on the other end after the ball is in the air. Split second more for recognition where it is going for the DBs.  The tippy toe backpedal.  That poo was a mess and it has always been mess but no Bryce fan wanted to hear it. “Go get another team to root for”. “It worked in the SEC it will be fine in the NFL you don’t know football you are just a hater”.  It got worse when the real games started. It has never stopped. It is nice that many people have left that train so there is less abuse but it hasn’t stopped.  So whatever…
    • Whatever school you attended, I don't know and I don't care, but I would suggest demanding a refund.    Something was completely missed there.
    • The draft capital since since 2023 has in no way been pretty even.  Especially when you zero in on day 1 and day 2 draft picks.  Draft capital has vastly gone toward the O over D.
