Yeah. Charlotte officials got paranoid as soon as the news of the team being sold broke.

Richardson will sell to someone who commits to keeping the team anyway, but I wouldn't be surprised if the city gave them some incentives.

This is something that talking heads just do not seem to get.  This is not a fire-sale.  JR got the word out, will get offers and pick the one he likes the best.  And you can bet a good foot massage that the winning bid will be an owner or ownership group that is either Carolina-based or commits to keeping team in Carolina.

Are there any state-owned teams in the league? I’m wondering if North and South Carolina could pool some cash to purchase the team. I’m sure that would create a poo storm among some people, but having the states own the team would ensure that the team stays.

No. Don't think the league would allow that, and it'd be a tough sell with non-football voters.

Its not allowed.  Green Bay was an exception because they were already publicly owned, but any sale will have to be a private owner, or a group with one person having controlling interest.

The city should bend over backwards to meet whatever desire the new owner has to keep the team here. It may cost us some in taxes but our taxes are already going up, and at least as one resident I'm totally up for paying whatever extra I gotta pay.

What you’re insinuating would lead to a revolt, even among Panther fans.  Declining league with uncertain future, ZERO viable relocation threat, perfectly fine BOA=NO NEW TAXES for the NFL

Let’s re-evaluate in 2030 and see where things stand.

    • You bring up a good point on the stability part and i would agree that probably will factor into it. But yes, Tepper does have a strong influence on who stays/goes but I still believe ultimately it'is Morgan, Tilis and Canales who will decide.
    • I can always count on yout to put things so delicately lol. I'm still not sold on the fact that Tepper will make them keep him if they don't see him as a long term answer.
    • holy poo... this thread inspired me to keep trying to guess passwords to various alts I've created over the years and I finally got in! I pretty much accepted my fate as a lurker for the last several months because I could not remember my password. I didn't realize that new users couldn't join either, that explains things. I have been around for years under several different monikers, through the good and bad. I too always find myself coming back here even with all of the new social media options for Panther fan engagement. It's simply nostalgic.   I do get extremely annoyed with the same 5-10 posters shitting on Bryce and complaining about everything. It's unfortunate that half of them are mods and that nobody new can join because now I pretty much just come on here and see Bryce / Panther slander. There is barely any positivity to be had. We all watch this team and hang on this forum for entertainment purposes only. We have no control or say in anything. I used to be such a crazy ass fan that would argue with strangers about Cam newton on the internet and at games. Now, as a father of 3, a business owner and someone with way gnarlier life problems - I like to watch football and talk about football as an escape. Not to bitch more. I really like the direction of the team and will root anyone in a Panthers jersey. I live down the street from the Rams practice facility, Matthew Stafford is currently coaching his daughters flag football team in the same program I coach my sons. I have two highly ranked Rams staff members sons on my team. The way we beat them and had them on the ropes in the playoffs has me feeling amazing, and you would think we have the next great thing in Bryce with the way they all speak of him. I'm gonna ride that high and be a delusional fan, I hope that huddle can stick around or get fixed and perhaps I will get back to posting more now that I can log in again. I will do my best to not get banned. Keep Pounding!
