I know the tinfoil hat folks will disagree with me, but there's nothing to indicate any potential new owners had anything to do with this.

As Riot pointed out, it's more likely that Hurney and Richardson decided to a) make sure Rivera gets some guaranteed money and b) act on the rumors he might fly the coop to Chicago.

It does mean Rivera will be netting 15 million dollars.  It does not guarantee he'll be coaching the team while he's doing it.

everyone commending this signing should logically be upset that Gettleman was fired, but we all know that's not the case

Gettleman didn't fit the Mom and Pop culture JR favored.

Once DG balanced the books, his no nonsense, business like approach to player contracts apparently became intolerable to JR.

What was most upsetting was bringing back the village idiot to replace Gettleman.  It simply demonstrated how mentally unmoored JR had become as an owner.

Disagree. I think this is all Marty and Jerry.

What are you disagreeing with?  I said either the new ownership tacitly approves or the current management is ensuring he gets paid before the new management comes aboard.  So either its with the approval of the potential new management, or its happening because current management is taking care of things before the new management comes in.  And the current management = Marty.

I disagree with the notion that new owners are already in the pipeline on any part of the team's operations.

That's just tinfoil hat stuff.

I didn't say that they were in the pipeline, I only mentioned the possibility, so I still don't see where your disagreement is.

But no, its not tinfoil hat stuff to think that Jerry already has some potential buyers in mind, and that they might have had some private conversations about what might go down.  It happens quite a bit in business circles.   Its a privately owned organization, and as the owner, Richardson has some leeway in how he proceeds and who he sells it to.

Anyone that thinks replacing Shula will result in dramatic changes in the offense is kidding themselves.

Everyone understands Shula works for Rivera right? Ron can fire his OC whenever he wants.

Shula has been doing exactly what RR wants him to do.  If he weren't, Shula would have already be canned by now.

Bottom Line:  Meet the new OC, same as the old OC.
