Clearly, Rivera hopes Turner, who helped develop talented quarterbacks like Phillip Rivers and Troy Aikman, can help.

Rivera said Monday that the team will keep utilizing the zone read and power run concepts in which Newton has found a lot of success. But continuing Newton’s development - as well as the development and efficient use of dynamic back Christian McCaffrey - is a key goal for the Panthers’ offensive staff moving forward.

I say horse shyt Norv will rely on the frigging zone read as part of Cam's normal offense. Phillip Rivers is a top 10 QB in the League the last 10 years. I expect Cam to be top 5 moving forward.

Chud scratched Cam's potential as a rookie, Shula retarded his sophistication as an NFL QB.

I don't think many Huddlers will recognize what Cam is by October of next year.

Can't frigging wait.

    • No one way to do it, it does appear that with the bigger draft picks of the last 5 years…..majority haven’t steered clear of young QBs on the roster being their hopeful guy. Especially past their rookie seasons but even some the biggest ones have had it early.   As far as Andy Dalton, the two young guys he has “mentored”…..have had very rough NFL starts.  Which really ask the why the heck is Dalton here.   He doesn’t really check any box.  No young potential.  Can’t step in and win.  And his mentor track record with Fields and now Bryce is bad
    • I had thought the Panthers might let him play out his contract this year and hope he stays healthy. If not draft a left tackle and move Ekwonu to right tackle.
    • Frankly, if most teams in the NFL lose their starting QB for a significant amount of time, they're screwed. The fantasy is that one has a future Tony Romo or a Nick Foles that can carry a stacked team. The reality is that you might get roughly 3~5 games out of your backup before it all falls apart. Remember all of Peyton Manning's backups? Utterly terrible. Speaking of backup QB's, Raiders may need one. https://www.nfl.com/news/raiders-qb-aidan-o-connell-suffered-fractured-wrist-in-preseason-finale-expected-to-be-out-6-8-weeks
