It's Quiet. Maybe a Little Too Quiet.

With the playoffs still in full swing and lots of head coaching vacancies, the Panthers making a change at OC is hardly newsworthy at all. Rivera has never struck me to be one about fanfare to begin with and at his age and with his experience, I doubt Norv wants some red carpet type treatment. They're both seasoned pros. I think they just want to quietly get to work.

Bingo...closer to true than moving takes a lot of time...lol...this didn't catch him off guard...

I'd probably have to think about that. I'm guessing it's happened, but I can't think of a particular instance.

I know when he took the Rams job, Dick Vermeil hired some former head coaches. I don't recall whether he actually worked under any of them or not.  I remember Vermeil getting the Eagles job out of college so probably not.

Turner and Mike Zimmer were actually colleagues with the Cowboys if I remember correctly, but obviously neither of them was the head coach there. And of course, Dom Capers wound up going to work for Tom Coughlin, but that wasn't a former colleague thing so much as it was just Capers getting owned.

It's certainly an intriguing question.

Top of my mind is Koetter and Smith.

They were OC & DC for one year together in Jax, then Smith brought Koetter over to the Falcons as his OC a few years later, and (for) now, Koetter brought Smith to the Bucs as his DC.

That kinda made my head spin typing that out.

You think Cam is worth two top 5 picks in the same draft?

The Browns would make that trade in an instant. The Panthers would be fools to do it.

We know what we have in Cam. Every draft pick is an unknown risk. There's a reason why franchise QBs almost never get traded in their primes. They're just too damn hard to find.

interesting but we cant start over with a new QB right now...then we would be the browns...

i wasnt really interested in the us starting over part. More interested in the hypothetical that the browns would actually make that trade.
