Last week they had Ridley falling to us.  This week we take a SS type of player.  Thoughts

Players I found of interest taken after us.

Mark Anderson TE Oklahoma (slotted for Jacksonville)

Denzel Ward CB Ohio State (Slotted for Philly)

Chukwama Okorafor OT Western Mich (Slotted for Minnesota)

I think any of these could be as good as a WR.   Anderson is a big guy and could really bring the two TE set that was so effective with Chudzinski.

What's kinda interesting IMO, is that we essentially are ending up with 2 rookie classes because of how much young talent got IR'd last year.  We had 7 picks, 3 of them got IR'd and 1 is a pro bowler on another team (I'm not salty about that at all....).  Corn Elder, Curtis Samuel, and Daeshon Hall all essentially got redshirted, so it's gonna be up to them how they advance in the offseason, but basically next year they come in as rookies as well.  Also, still got Armah and Moton who neither got any significant playing time.

This is the first mock I've seen with Miller in the 1st round. Most have him in 2/3.

That being said, I'd be okay with it. He has everything - route running, hands, aggressively fights for the ball, fast (albeit not as fast as steve smith), and ridiculous production. I think there's a solid chance he'll be the best WR in this draft in 2-3 years. The comparisons I've seen thrown around are Steve Smith/Antonio Brown. Not to say he'll actually be that good, but that's the mold he fits most.

Anthony Miller and Deshon Elliot in the first and second would make me very happy.

Miller is pretty dang good...dont want to dare make a comparison on who he looks like...

Those that compare him to Steve Smith don't do the kid any justice. You're talking about a potential HOFer.  S. Smith was not only a great receiver he was one helleva athlete.  For his size he had the most amazing vertical leap I have ever seen and was strong as an ox.

We could go on and on about how strong he was.

That said, if they think he plays like SS.  I certainly wouldn't bypass him just because of his size.

Maybe Derwin James will have a bad combine and fall to us.  Best player overall in the draft, IMO.

Well really top notch players ramcyk and Ruben foster fell all the way down to the end of r1 last year. And I remember also Jonathan Allen and Malik hooker were projected to go top 5 in early projected but fell to mid round due to injury concerns

I like Miller too he's probably my favorite WR in the draft . Has speed but maybe most importantly serious toughness and makes contested catches . Steve Smith comparison is a bit far fetched .

It's kinda interesting that they have us selecting Miller over Kirk and only 3 WR taken in round 1.  They're pretty similar players with good college WR production , Kirk seems to be faster but Miller possibly stronger or better at contested catches . I'd be happy with either of them honestly

Would not be surprised if we got a WR in r1 and went defense the rest of the way . Maybe Olsens injury will scare them enough to get a TE or if they are stew we could get a RB too .

    • Yeah and I am doubtful he can offer that consistently. I don’t have many years left at my age and in my view we have wasted two and this whole exercise with him was always a three year minimum.  I am out on that with a guy I don’t believe in, and never believed in, it has sucked. To me it is a costly detour off the right track. Years.    But I am not so rigid that I can’t see excellence. He needs to display it though, consistently before I change my outlook.
    • No, when I said rage, I meant rage, which only applies to certain fans on this board. Your timeline of trying to assess whether he is the future or not is really tied to the discussions surrounding his second contract. If this team is going to commit to some monster contract while he has shown nothing but glimpses of brilliance would be deservedly worrisome, so the clock is genuinely ticking for him to settle into something resembling his final form. Perhaps a best case scenario is that he plays well, the team succeeds, but he does so with a more limited role that makes the rest of the league view him as a game manager, and his second contract value reflects that. Then he continues to improve and becomes a bargain comparatively while not handicapping the team around him, and we enter an era of consistent championship competitiveness that the fanbase has craved for decades and has never really experienced before. But that requires many, many things to go right and for Bryce himself to facilitate that if he ends up being the quarterback of the future.
    • Exactly. And the flame throwers as well, get location benefits from not going all out. But they have it in reserve.  Not sure how much Greg had but he was an artist.  There was a YouTube I came across last year or maybe even 2023 and I don’t how to even find now but it had two NFL QBs I want say one was Carr from the Raiders but I don’t really remember  The point of it is they stood side by side throwing identical distances to identical targets. Radar gun was used.  They threw the normal effort (not all out) and it was measured etc. Then they were asked to throw their ‘fastball’. They were missing and most often they were missing high. It demonstrated the same principle.    edit: and applying that to arm strength, give me the guy that doesn’t need max effort to have good velocity. The margins are so narrow with less velocity in tne NFL the defenders can Close on it and this is a league where they value down to the 100th of a second level. It is that tight
