NFL1000 Rank for all starters on the Panthers

They have Colin Jones ranked as the #18 SS in the NFL? What in the hell are they smoking? They're definitely not considering CMC's receiving yardage either. I think Horton is a little low too. He's a solid rotational DE. Star falling victim to them likely just looking at stat sheets. There are definitely not 53 better DTs in the NFL than Star Lotulelei. I don't think Worley sucks quite THAT bad, but yeah, he's not a good CB. LOL @ Russell Shepard's straight up 0.00%. Would anyone disagree? Certainly not me. Not sure what they're thinking with Peppers, there's definitely not 42 better DEs in the NFL. Not even close.

God damn I'd have rather we made keeping Norwell a priority before this season than Trai...

well with Williams being really good the right side of line is set for the future and both of them being under age 27 for next season, the right side of our line is set for a good while.

We just have to figure out the other 3 positions, with Matt Kalil being subpar on a rediculous contract, Norwell probably hitting free agency, and Ryan retiring after 2018.  I think we can plug Moton in at LG , but the Kalil brothers were going to really have to hope they perform well and stay healthy in 2018. After that season Ryan will be gone and we can cut Matt without killing the cap.

Were going to need a LT and C of the future within the next 2 years

Well forget which guard spot they play, Norwell has been better and more consistent than Trai his entire career here, and he should've been the priority to keep over Trai.

As far as the rest of the line goes I agree for the most part but differ slightly on Moton. I don't see Moton playing guard and I don't think our coaching staff thinks he'll play guard either. I think they're grooming him to be our franchise LT and Kalil was a stop-gap to have in place while Moton develops. I could see Moton starting at LT as soon as this year if he progresses and Matt continues to struggle. Either way after this year I see Matt gone and Moton starting.

C and LG are big needs that I don't think we have on the roster right now. Larsen could be an okay piece at one of those spots but I'd love to add a legitimate top-tier starter at the other if Larsen is starting. Wouldn't be opposed to using a pick on interior OL in the first round if we're damn sure he's going to be a stud like a Zack Martin. Billy Price is intriguing.

The fact he's paid barely less than Ginn got at the saints blows my fing mind

He's paid about  30% less than Ginn.  What is sad is he's our highest paid receiver:

Russell Shepard    $3,525,000
Devin Funchess    $1,756,648
Curtis Samuel    $1,466,741

Some perspective, Patriots spend out twice as much as we do on WRs and Secondary.

    • I’m keeping an eye on what the Hawks do with Boye Mafe. There’s a few young talented players that needs to be retained and one of their defensive starters might not fit within the budget. My guess is probably Riq Woolen is voted off the island but Mafe could be potentially too. His stats aren’t eye popping, but in McDonald’s defense, his role is to leverage for the DL to clean up. Mafe’s QB pressure rate is top notch and in a different scheme, he could clean up.    Just something to watch this weekend when SEA is in town.
    • Ok fair to judge only his starts.  But you do acknowledge that going from "he's waaaay above league average in a number of categories" to "here's a single stat where he's above league average (not "waaaay") and another where he is exactly at the league average" is a pretty significant backpedal, no?  I'm guessing he's probably in the ~10th range for completion percentage too if we're only looking at starts (I'm too lazy to isolate his starts and do the calculations), so I'll grant you that one too.  But I don't think completion percentage is all that meaningful as a standalone stat if it isn't bolstered by good TD%, Y/A, etc. On that note, for how much people like posting Passing Charts in here (*cough* CRA) - if you peep Shough's passing charts, he hasn't completed a single 20+ yard pass in the past 3 games combined.  His last one was in Week 13 against the Dolphins, which was a single pass of 24 yards.  I just want to be consistent in how we apply our standards - I think it's always been warranted to criticize Bryce for it (even dating back to his rookie season), but do we suddenly not care about that with Shough? And yeah I did acknowledge that Saints' fans have reason to be excited about him and complimented his poise, which is giving my props.  Still not sure I agree that he looks better than a "ton" of QBs nor do I think you or anyone have really demonstrated that.  I think you are generally one of the more reasonable level-headed posters which is why I'm confused at what I consider to be rather hyperbolic language about Shough.
    • I don't disagree with you, but want to point out that Tremble's strong suit has always been blocking. Case and point: on Horn's 25 yard run, he lays down not 1 but 2 nice blocks...and is looking for #3! https://www.panthers.com/video/jimmy-horn-jr-s-25-yard-run-gives-panthers-red-zone-access-on-first-drive
