who tf cares about the cotchery role sammy watkins fits norv's receiver to a tee and is actually good at being a receiver.

would immediately shore up our receiving corps and make it quite formidable. would be hard to stop Watkins, Funchess, healthy Samuel, Olsen, and CMC at the same time.

Still got plenty of money to slap around tbh. Even then, down statistical year may hurt him in some way.

Realistically, it's a long shot we'd even go for him, but we do have the cap space to do so and I'd really love to see us try.

While I agree that Watkins isn't going anywhere.  Rivera is, and always will be, a defensive mind.  Turner is, and always will be an offensive mind. (a damn good one at that) You need to get out of your mind that Rivera is going to override Turner on the type of receiver we need. Cotchery was a decent receiver for Shula not Turner.

We need a damn field stretcher not another Cotchery. Funchess isn't a deep threat and Samuel and CMC are better working underneath and getting YAC. We need a legit deep threat.

There are soooo many young, raw, talented WRs on this roster. Literally the only two guys that Hurney should be looking at as possible day 1 WR picks are Kirk and Ridley. They are instant plug and play receivers. The rest of these guys are 50/50 at best. If he reaches for a wide receiver in the first or second round it’s going to be a complete bust. If hurney has done anything well it’s been 1st round picks. Hopefully that doesn’t change with a ridiculous reach..

I think the top players at WR that we should definitely be targeting is 

 

 DJ Chark, Christian Kirk, DJ Moore, St. Brown Michael Gallup, Deion Caine, and Courtland Sutton. I think all of these guys would be a good addition to the new offense.

Frankly, I think drafting WR early is stupid.  Everyone is writing off Samuel?  Byrd?  All we need to do is replace Sheperd with a quality veteran. 

Funchess, a good free agent, Samuel, Byrd, and another solid player (developmental OK) is all we need.  Draft a top WR, and you have Funchess + three unproven players.

I saw signs of Samuel and Byrd looking like the slot is covered.  A free agent X WR is what we need, imo.
