Here's a FA for you Vinny Curry

Recommended Posts

I looked for this guy to break out two years ago, and I'm still waiting.

He's played with decent talent before also,  so I'm just not a believer. At this point I'd rather bet that one of our young guys will be more productive.

Are you basing that off his sack total or do you get a chance to watch all of his games?

I’ll be honest I haven’t watched many of his games at all.

Would be nice to find a released DE, wouldn’t affect our comp picks.  Also, not sold on the draft this year for them.

We need to do something about DE for sure but I agree Idon’t think Curry is an answer. If Peppers comes back we should be fine for this year and then 2019 will surely be a better draft class for 4-3 ends than this year but if Pep doesn’t come back we’re in rough shape at the position...

I don't think we need more stopgaps at DE. We need developmental guys for the future. Peppers (assuming he comes back), Addison, Horton, and hopefully Hall with a year under his belt should be a really solid DE rotation. What I'm worried about is that none of these guys are the future. Peppers will be coming back for his farewell tour if he comes back, Addison will turn 31 early this coming season himself, and Horton is a rotational guy who will turn 29 this season himself. I think we're okay in the present, but the future at DE is very much cloudy.

Curry is much better than his stats. Eagles rotate guys out a lot and he lost playing time with Barnett being in the mix this year and played about half the defensive snaps although he was the "starter". Really good run stopper, one of the best on the team for tackles for a loss, gets lots of pressure on QB's, etc. 2 years ago he dealt with an MCL sprain.

He would be a good fit here if the price wasn't outrageous and if he doesn't restructure with the Eagles (he is a from the area and grew up an Eagle's fan).

I think DE will turn out to be bigger need here than some others do and Vinny would be a very good addition.

Honestly,  yes I am basing it off sack totals, and his are low. He gets pressure,  but never seems to be able to finish the deal.  I would hope that a rotational guy who plays in the range of 50 percent of the snaps would be able to ultimately put the QB on the ground,  but it hasn't happened for him.  To be fair,  he has had to put up with Chip Kelly not being a believer and his stats did take a hit because of even less snaps, but the current administration had ostensibly put him in a better position to succeed,  but 2016 was a down year,  but 2017 was pretty good...for pressures. So, as long as the expectation is for pressures and him being a rotational guy,  then fine.  I wouldn't pay him more than 5 or 6 mil per year for that though. As far as I'm concerned, in effect Curry has played the Addison role in Philly when you boil it down to the bottom line,  but without Addison's results.

    • Bryce has been playing the best ball of his career the last three games IMO. He wasn't the reason we dropped the game in NOLA. Seattle's defense will be his toughest challenge yet this season
    • I'll be at the game Sunday and up until last year I had a perfect attendance record. Now however I have seen us lose to the Chiefs (last year) and the Bills (this year). So we can no longer rely solely on my ability to pound overpriced beers to propel us to a win.
    • I haven't been able to watch Seattle on a dedicated basis but the Seahawks are a much better team by the all accounts: eye test, record and DVOA. Defensively they are sick. Best DVOA in the league first in rushing and second in passing. Offensively their passing game has been on fire this year led by JSN I can easily see this being like the Buffalo game where things just get out of hand for us early, that being said this league really is week to week and Seattle does have the disadvantage of traveling cross country for an early game.  If and big if, the Panthers are able to effectively run the ball and limit the amount of time Seattle's offense has to generate explosive plays we have a path to winning this game.  Seattle fans won't be happy to hear this but bad Darnold is always lurking in the background. He is truly an enigma to root for bc he will have an incredible throw that only a few people can make but then will turn around and throw the most bone headed pick of all time.  I think ultimately we drop this one as ultimately it's human nature to be looking forward to that week 18 game. But man how special would it be to be leaving the stadium on Sunday with a win and a miracle dolphins upset
