“Josh Sweat of Florida State has built a lot of momentum for himself off his terrific combine workout. Despite the fact that he was a great athlete entering college, several teams were surprised by his performance today. His numbers included 4.53 in the 40, 39.5 inches in the vertical jump, 10-feet-4-inches in the broad jump and a short shuttle of 4.28. I’m ttold Sweat is expected to participate in extensive coverage drills during Florida State's pro day on March 20, which could solidify him as a top-60 pick. The teams presently the most interested in Sweat include the New York JetsCarolina Panthers”

This is a under the radar pick that has been trending up since the combine show he put on yesterday. Most had him as a 3rd rounder before he showed he was the most athletic end at the combine. He has freakish length:

@CharlesRobinson: Worth breaking this one out simply because of the absurd, crazy wingspan.

136. #FSU DE/LB Josh Sweat
Height: 6-4 6/8
Weight: 251
Hand: 10 2/8
Arm: 34 5/8
Wingspan: 84 1/8 (!)

though he may be a little light and needs to work on playing strength. He did come into college ranked the number one player in his class before blowing out his knee his s senior year in highschool. How you feel about this pick?

Look at the 3 cone drill.  The guys mentioned that half the teams pay more attention to that time than the 40, especially for DE's

They very much pay attention to guys who can get a sub 7 second

Sam Hubbard, just sayin...

Hubbard was like a 6.95.  He has the pedigree and the size.  Not really the production, but he was playing on a very stacked DL. This is the best I can do with inside info on the guy:  My brother-in-law has season tickets (He is a chiropractor in Columbus and an alumni).  He said that Hubbard is always around the ball--high motor. High character--but he says second rounder at best  I think he would be great in our scheme and like him in the first round since he ran that cone drill. The tools are there--teach him a move or two and coach him up.

    • I came over from the old Panthers Insider site. When Fox Sports bought that platform it slowly just started dying plus the guy who ran that site was dealing with some pretty significant health issues so the whole thing just slowly fell apart. Quite a few of us migrated over here. Not sure how many are still around.  I miss that place. It struck a nice balance of having enough active posters to keep productive conversation flowing but didn't have so much traffic that you end up with a lot of trolling BS. This place is getting there though since we shutdown new registrations but at some point we're going to have to open it back up or we'll watch this place slowly die off too as posters fall off for one reason or another. We just have to figure out a way to filter out the spam bots. It was a never ending battle to ban the spam bots to keep then from overrunning the site. You'd think they'd be a little more strategic. I mean, if you fill a site with nothing but spam people are just going to stop coming so it's not a sustainable model. But nope, every one of them makes dozens of duplicate threads filling up pages upon pages as soon as their account goes live.
    • lol...I don't remember that.  Although recalling what I had for breakfast yesterday is sometimes a challenge.  Hope it was a positive thing.
