"But but Hurney drafted Kuechly and Cam!!!"

Average draft position after a Gettleman season: 23rd

Average draft position after a Hurney season: 16th

Gettleman picked 28th (KB), 25th (Shaq), 31st (Butler), and 8th (McCaffrey). Star was #14 but Gettleman wasn't GM the season before.

With Hurney, the Panthers have finished with a top 10 pick in the draft three times and made the playoffs three times. The other 4 seasons the team finished with 1st round picks in the teens.

I agree. So, you should have no problem with our current GM not being all that in his mid round selections (4-7th) right?

i have a problem with our GM using picks in earlier rounds next year to trade for some player because he thinks he found a gem. it’s one thing to know what your scouting limitations are at that point. it’s another to be overly confident and thinking armanti edwards is worth next year’s second round pick so you can nab him in the third round where no other team was going to touch him with a ten foot pole.

The gman threads are not nearly as tiresome as the obligitory, "______   ______ was just cut, do we want him" threads

none of them are tiresome. it's a damn discussion board, i have never and will never understand why 90% of threads are full of "i don't like that you made this thread" posts. who gives a poo, just talk about the topic. it's a talking board.

    • I don't really care as much about athleticism and arm strength.  While Murray might be better in that regard, I think Bryce has enough of both to do well in the NFL. The main reason this trade reference is silly is the money and the fact that Murray has been around a long while and hasn't proven that he can perform consistently when the game is on the line.  Bryce has shown that he can play well in the clutch (in the few opportunities he has had).
    • If Bryce can continue the level of play he showed after the benching, then there's a good shot we at least compete to win the division. Tampa is a solid team but even last year in our week division they went 10-7 and will be on their 4th OC in as many years. The Saints are a mess and are in a mist of a half rebuild half still trying to compete mode and will probably be starting a rookie QB. The Falcons are a wild card as they have a really good offense but are we really crowning Michael Penix as a franchise QB after just 3 games?  The only thing I want out of this season is for Bryce to come out and without a shadow of a doubt prove he's our franchise QB. If that happens then most of the fanbase would be happy and I believe we'd be in a good place record wise at the end of the season. Maybe falling just short of winning the division with a chance to sneak in as a wild card team.
