McCaffery will have a lot more space to work with with a legit proven field stretcher.  I just can't seem to understand why people are hating on this move.  This is exactly the kinda player we need.  Personality fits with the program as well.  Nice work Marty.

Wow.  Just wow.   We needed change at CB, Safety, WR, OC and RB(maybe).   The front office is already in process of addressing them.  Its' like we know what we're talking about here or Hurney/Rivera is on the huddle.

After having most of the evening to think about Norv and the trade, here you go.

 

The Coryell offense, strong running game and stretch the field receivers, needed a deep threat.  Ginn gone, and Samuels got hurt last year.  So, bring in your vet Ginn replacement.  The $5 million bothered me until Jackson in Tampa signed for 18.5 million per year.

If Smith was cut, he probably would have gotten the 5 million anyway and might not have picked the Panthers.  So, long story short, the trade is not all that bad for a deep threat vet.

Now, the other part of the Coryell offense is the running game and with a G, C, RB and maybe a TE need, we still have work to do.

It is like some huddlerz continuously whine about a true #1. All Cam need is a speed man and possession man with a great TE but most of all an Oline that can give Cam time which are more important than a true #1.

Torrey Smith, a healthy Curtis Samuel and Damiere Byrd, and assuming we bring back Kaelin Clay hey, that's some really good speed at the WR position.

I try and not follow the off-season too much so I can enjoy real life, but this seems like a trade that would have been tight in 2013.

Carolina could still cut Smith and save $5 million in cap by June 1st with no dead money if they find something better.  worley isn't a real loss imo.
