2) Carolina Panthers

Heading into the offseason, the Panthers look ready to finish overhauling a wide receiver corps that's routinely fallen short of expectations in the later years of the Cam Newton era. They began the process by jettisoning Kelvin Benjamin midseason and successfully installing Devin Funchess as the primary perimeter receiver. Outside of Funchess, the only safe bets to return to the roster are smaller speed-threat wideouts Curtis Samuel and Damiere Byrd. While both of them missed extensive time with injuries in 2017, when healthy, they open up the field for Newton -- on deep routes and crossers out of the slot -- complementing Funchess' work outside as a possession receiver.

Adding Robinson would essentially be icing on the cake for Carolina, solidifying the WR depth chart as an above-average group for the first time in years. Newton has ranked inside the top five in percentage of passes thrown into tight windows in each of the last two seasons, per Next Gen Stats. Robinson's great route-running technique would open clearer throwing lanes for the former MVP and offer him someone who's more than capable of winning those 50-50 jump balls.

The Panthers are in the middle of the pack in terms of cap space right now. If they want Robinson's services, they can make a contract work. Securing Newton a No. 1 receiver who's still just 24 years old as the quarterback enters the next stage of his career would be well worth the cost.

    • If anybody has listened to Canales's pressers, you can tell he is talking out of his ass. Being handicapped by Bryce isn't an excuse, he was quick to bench Bryce last year and if he doesn't believe in Bryce this year then bench him again. It's his decision making that we can judge as a HC, not necessarily how the players play. He was giving Evero so much flack for not playing the young guys on defense when they were clearly outperforming the vets. But he refused to play Rico more than Chubba? If anyone listened to his presser yesterday, he literally said that he gave Chubba more carries because of "what he means to this organization." Canales has a buddy/good guy system, he will give guys that HE likes more opportunity instead of the guy that actually performs. How do you explain David Moore making the roster and starting over other guys.
    • It's useful as others said for solutions, upvotes are arguably ideal for a solution/answer forum. For opinions, not so much.  I also just hold a grudge against reddit for killing off forums
    • I actually don’t blame them for drafting an XL type WR over mcconkey. They were looking for an X WR. Not a slot. Not saying I love the pick. Just that i kinda understand why they went in that direction. Now i think they thought they were drafting a plug and play WR which is not what they drafted. XL is a player you have to scheme open consistently. They don’t seem to be consistently doing that.
