The NFL just needs to drop marijuana has a banned substance already and be done with it. Who cares?

I think you have to consider that it is illegal in most cities and the league would be essentially "legalizing" something that is illegal in society.  The NFL is family entertainment and its stars are its ambassadors.  Until society legalizes it, I doubt the NFL does.

If we did not test for it, I would be OK with that.  However, you can't have these players acting stupid and sending out what amounts to bad PR on social media.

I guess slave owners were correct since it waa a law. Discrimination was also protected under law. Guess buisness owners and schools were correct for banning blacks.

Its bullshit.

Actually, you are right--we have some bad laws and the worst part is--we think "since it is law, it must be inherently right or acceptable."  I question our laws about children (since you mention slaves, the 14th amendment was created to give them equal treatment in the eyes of the constitution). In other words, all rights and privileges apply to all people.  But the same things we do to our children to legally discipline them would be assault if we did it to others.  Explain that.

As a pretty heavy smoker myself I still believe the NFL has every right to ban marijuana. If they don't want their players doing it, then that's their call. And what about accountability? If a millionaire athlete can't stay off the dope for the sake of his career then he probably shouldn't be smoking it to begin with.

Unlike the anti gun nuts, I am generally in favor of expanding peoples rights to do as they wish as long as it doesn't impact anyone else.  The NFL, however, is a private business and can do whatever they like.  Its a shitty analogy but nobody wants their airline pilot or school bus driver using this  supposedly harmless stuff, and if the NFL feels the same way about its employees then its none of our business.  If its suddenly OK with the NFL, whats to keep players from lighting up right before the game?  Any of you fuggers want to pay $100 a ticket to watch a bunch of stoned morons giggling, and snacking for three hours?

Here's the thing... if you offered to pay me a million dollars a year and the only catch was I could never wear red, I would never wear red. Is it fair? Who cares because it's a lot of money to avoid something that is really easy to avoid.

young minds don't get as high as an older mind.  young minds think they will live forever. do it all and do it now.

wait until you are 30 to smoke weed. by then your brain is grown and you might really enjoy it.

smoking weed effects people in different ways. I know plenty of gym rats who like to get as stoned as humanly possible before they go work out. Tbf I don't wanna pay 100 dollar ticket for anything.

Bingo.

Plus by all accounts, the NFL's testing procedures aren't exactly difficult to beat.

Although it certainly isn't the intent, the league's drug testing program has a way of showing who has poor judgment or, in some cases, just isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer.

If you allow yourself to be filmed doing something that's a) illegal and b) can get you in a lot of trouble with your employer, especially today in the age of social media, I'm going to go ahead and say you probably aren't exactly a genius.

I dont think Laws on Slave owning, can compare to Marijuana. I am all for MJ being legal, its one of the few drugs I agree with. However, it is a law for a reason, I am not sure it discriminates or oppresses a person because it is illegal.

I prefaced literally with what you just said

But my argument of just because its a law doesnt mean its correct and right stands.
