I've never understood this claim. Explain it, please. 

The year of Katrina, the Saints were 3-13. The year after Katrina, the Saints went to the NFC Championship and lost. If the game were given because of Katrina, why wasn't it then? Would have made more sense, right? Then a 7-9 year. An 8-8 year. Then, over 4 years after Katrina, the Saints were given their Super Bowl?

Probably because only a Saints fan would care enough to remember such things.  I think people were saying this the year after and it kinda stuck.  Like people saying the Giants won because of 9/11
