Now let me put on my conspiracy hat. The NFL asked JR to wait to make the announcement till after the draft. They don't want him being a distraction during a very important time. I think it's done. The NFL has approved and they are just timing the release to benefit the league.

That actually makes a lot of sense

Definitely possible. We'd speculated on something like that before, and it'd be a lot better option.

I take it this is your own theory though, not something from your source.

They don't vote until May 21-23 regardless.

Navarro has the high bid, Tepper isn't close but NFL league office only wants this to end With Tepper being announced.  JR said no to his offer, Tepper said he wouldnt offer more. JR pissed at the league for trying to force him into the Tepper offer and is holding this out now and thinking about forcing the NFL's hand to get rid of him.

I have a feeling that the above NFL nightmare situation is getting close to actually happening.

Everything relating to Tepper right now is a tactic aimed at driving up the price for Navarro.

Remember that the primary stake each owner has in this is the continued rise in franchise valuation - they all win if they can drive this higher.

Tepper is most likely working hand in hand with the other owners - he is, after all, an owner - to continue the game and drive up the price.

Navarro has it sealed - just a matter of the final number at this point.

If JR is being forced to accept a lesser bid then he should hold out. I don’t see how it behooves the NFL for a sale to happen 2-300m under value. Navarro isn’t that dirty of a guy and if the nfl is using Tepper to inflate budding then that’s collusion.

Its a a complicated process and Navarro certainly has other investors. For all we know obscure investors or deal points could hold up the process. Tepper is probably sitting back letting the Navarro deal fall apart either through his NFL contacts or Navarros own group.

Deals 1/100th this size fall apart for the silliest reasons.  It’s All speculation without hard facts which are certainly used behind NDAs.

And here's the question...

Supposing they do force him out. Does the decision on who to sell the team to then become the NFL's choice to make?

If so, I'd guess we've got a pretty good idea what direction that scenario goes.

Sad to say, but if Richardson is indeed being an ass to spite the NFL, the person he actually might wind up screwing over is Ben Navarro.
