Carried by an elite offensive coordinator and elite weapons......constantly has big leads in big games......and still can not win.

OVERPAID.

Lol. Ryan’s gotten 4 different offensive coordinators head coaching jobs. Best player in Falcons franchise history.

Really puts it into perspective just how much of a bargain we've had Cam for all these years.

Exactly. And with the exception of one miracle season we've squandered his entire career of below market value contracts.

Something tells me that $30 million will be one of those benchmarks, the high water mark possibly of QB salaries. Sure, he gets the big check but now the impetus is all on him, he's gotta bring it home. That much money may be the breaking point at which you have too much money invested in one position. One position dominating so much that you cripple the team or at least make them so vulnerable that disaster looms.

$30 million is just about one sixth of the salary cap as it stands now. Imagine an opening day injury to Ryan and the impact of having 1/6th of your payroll sitting on the bench, potentially for a whole season. And what about being on the hook for $100 million after a career ending injury? I don't think you can massage that too much.

If he gets a championship, then the inflation continues. If it's even just a losing record season, the fingers start pointing. If he gets injured, then you're going to see this on one those NFL Network's Top 10 shows, for Salary Cap Blunders.

Yeah that's just how the market works though. Cam's next contract will certainly be the biggest ever at the time and will likely be surpassed in the same year. It's just silly.

Agreed. Just shows how crappy of a franchise they were for most of their existence until recently.

Rodgers is going to own the entire state of Wisconsin

You know, Rodgers is arguably the most physically talented QB of this generation. I'd take him over Ryan any day over the week. But, there is no way if I'm if a GM I'm going to sign him to a contract significantly larger than the one Ryan just signed.

That Packer team has fallen off in recent years and is no longer one of the top 5 teams in the NFC. I wouldn't be surprised if they don't even make the playoffs this year even with a healthy Aaron Rodgers. Going into the 2018 season I'd rank them behind: Philly, Minnesota, NO, Atlanta, Carolina, and LA. Dallas should be better with Zeke back for the entire season. The Lions are usually at least competitive with Stafford running the offense. All of the above are capable of beating GB this season head to head. How can they give one guy 1/6 of your salary cap to one player and expect this team to get better with all of the weaknesses on that team? If I had a young player like a Jimmy G or a Nick Foles behind him I'd consider letting him walk if his contract demands were too high and use that money to build a deeper roster.

I'm really starting to think the whole league would be better if the QB salaries were excluded from the salary cap calculations like someone on here suggested a few months back. Every team needs a QB to win in this league, but these big money QB contracts are hurting the GM's ability to build a solid roster on both sides of the ball. To date, I don't believe any QB with a 20mil contract has won a SB.

Ryan has 3 playoff wins the last 2 years. 40 years before that? 7 playoff wins. Crazy
