REPORT: Navarro asks Peyton Manning to be part owner of Panthers

IF true I am not a supporter. I am afraid Manning would find it difficult to be "just" one of the owners.

And you may well be right.

It's long been rumored that Peyton wants to run a team. And it's no stretch to imagine that part of Navarro's pitch could be "And hey if you sign on, I'll put you in charge of the whole damn show!"

So while we're pondering how we feel about Manning the owner, you might also want to consider how you feel about Manning the GM.

I’d be fine with him as President/GM like Elway. He’s a smart fuging football guy.

And you can expect he'd insist on smart players. Probably coaches and front office people too.

Not hard to imagine that he'd offer Tony Dungy a place in the organization somewhere.

This is a serious play to make the NFL and other owners like his goup over Tepper.

Has a minority owner ever been an announcer?  This seems like it might be a conflict of interest.

Not sure if serious, but Manning turned those offers down.

All the networks were pretty much prepared to shovel money at him, but he said no.

I like it as well.  Seriously.  No BS.  Great football guy obviously.  The best?

Guy was a sexual harasser (allegedly), HGH user, as well as other nefarious activity, so maybe he’ll unleash the Kraken back where he belongs in black and blue as well.

It's well past time to move on from Hardy.

I know PM isn't in the announcing game this season but that could change.  I still wonder if a partial owner would be a conflict on broadcast TV.

Two things from the article really stood out to me.

"While playing, Manning often worked out at Duke University in Durham. The city became a location of major interest in 2012, as teams were lining up to sign the then-free agent."

"The question likely will be whether Navarro offers the still-free agent executive a chance to not just be involved in owning the team but to run the show. With Manning, there’s no part-time, half-assed move. If he’s in, he’s all in. And if the offer is anything less than a chance to own equity coupled with a charge to run the franchise, it’s hard to imagine Peyton being interested."

So our potential new part owner has been involved in multiple heinous allegations yet it’s time to move on from our 29 year old all time single season sacks leader who hasn’t been replaced and would love another shot?
