Antonio Garcia released from Patriots

I know this isn't Panther related but I remember a good bit of Huddlers wanted him or thought he'd be a good LT for the future.

2017 3rd rounder that the pats moved up to get has been released with a non football illness. Apparently he has blood clots and was put on a blood thinner that caused him to lose 40 lbs

Did the Patriots NOT do their homework?   This was noted after the combine on NFL.com:

Sources Tell Us

"He was below 280 (pounds) in the spring and was below 290 at one point in the fall, so I'm not sure how much weight he can actually carry." -- Scout for NFC team

Frankly, I wanted him badly.  He fell and the Pats traded up---If I am not mistaken, they knowingly drafted Cannon after a bout with lymphoma.

When dealing with Pulmonary Embolisms such as these, the root cause is the biggest question.  Knowing that he is a young, presumably healthy individual, you can rule out certain things like deep vein thrombosis or other hypercoagulable states related to sedentary lifestyle.  There are a number of genetic disorders that can cause blood clotting.  Factor V leiden (more common in young male Caucasians), prothrombin gene mutation, etc. If any of these are the case, his future in the NFL is uncertain.  If he is forced to treat with a blood thinner, he will be highly prone to internal bleeding in a very physical sport.  Carrying excess weight with a blood clotting condition is one of the most dangerous things you can do as well. So he may run the risk of exacerbating his condition attempting to maintain the weight needed to be an offensive lineman.

Well the doctor is in the house.

I have a tiny little bump under my skin way low on my shin, really right above my ankle. It feels like a swollen gland, but such an odd place. About the size of a pea. Should I be worried about that? I have one other spot on my forearm, bigger but feels the same, had it for years. Doctors said it was a benign mass. Didn’t check it other than just feel it. Another one of those?

Depending on the texture of the mass, it could very well be a mass or a small muscle hernia. If you press on the mass, is it soft or solid.  If it is soft it is likely a tibialis anterior muscle hernia.  They are very common in athletes and can get worse with time requiring corrective surgery.  If it is hard, it is more likely the mass your doctor referred too, a neoplasm of connective tissue, which are benign and shouldn't worry you much.  It likely won't go away, but also shouldn't cause you any particular discomfort.

Does it itch (slightly at times) or is it a bit painful when you put pressure on it?  I am not trying to scare you because I had a very rare form, but my dermatologist dismissed these cutaneous bumps as benign masses or some allergic reaction (looked like a bite or poison oak reaction) and gave me free mini tubes of salve.  Nothing.  At the end of the year, since I had some money left on my flex account, I asked for a biopsy.  He obliged, skeptically.  It was a rare form of lymphoma.  Let me know (PM) if you have more questions about my  condition--again, your situation is probably NOT what I had--the Docs at Duke had to find similar lab results in Finland to compare the two.

I don't want to leave some Huddlers in suspense any longer.  I survived and have been cancer free for 5 years.

Classic signs of super aggressive dick cancer.

Often low base rate diagnosis go undiscovered until they produce differentiating symptoms.  You are very lucky! Good for you, good FOR you.

    • Roger all that. Do you think BY avoided any sacks last game? This oline is not what you're touting them to be. They are much better then 2023! Much much much better than 2023. But come on now, you'd expect this expensive oline (most are run blocking specialist) to at least dominate in the run game every game.  And... I keep telling you our WRs and TEs are not that good yet. I mean last Sunday was a prime example. Our receiving targets never make plays like those. Never. And this is from one of the worst teams in the league. Shough could have easily had 3 INTs if not for his receivers making plays on the ball. Our guys just don't do that. XL almost allowed an INT backing up out of bounds instead of coming to the ball. And everyone would have blamed that on BY. That's why he doesn't throw to that dude. I can't recall a game except maybe the second Falcons game - maybe, where I thought our receivers could possibly be better than the other team's. I think TMac and Coker have a lot of potential. But they're aren't consistent. But they're young and WILL improve. I'm confident of that.  I don't agree that BY was drafted to only stand in the pocket. He has always been best off schedule - for better or worse.
    • Do you think you will get a direct answer?  Icky giving up 5 pressures (playing hurt in his defense) by himself and Bryce only getting sacked once tells you he played well in the pocket.  He extended plays and converted some tough downs.
    • I've been very apprehensive about potentially firing yet another head coach. But Canales needs to focus on being a head coach first and foremost and begin handing off some responsibilities like playcalling duties and begin overseeing the entire team or we need to assess all possible ideal HC candidates in the offseason.
