So yes, Jerry Richardson is disappointed.  Also makes it tougher to believe he was completely on board with this.

He wasn't, NFL voted him out without actually putting it to a vote....

think about that..

this doesn't surprise me and it's part of the reason i've wanted him since i first learned about him. he's going to make one shrewd owner....one bastard of an owner even and he's ours.

You say this now until he starts whining about a new stadium paid for on the tax payers dime. And if we don’t give it to him (who by the way has no connection to the city, state, franchise, or fans) guess what? Toronto or San Antonio will

If I were to be upset at anything, its the lack of this being a fair bidding process. Doesn't seem right regardless of what you think of Tepper or Richardson.  Basically telling Tepper he can have it at 2.2 but telling anyone else they've got to pay 2.5+ is bs no matter how you spin it.

No one liked Kestenbaum and the league didn't like Navarro because of the way his business bilked people in debt and offered high interest credit cards to poor people with bad credit. You could consider it a slime tax.

Doubt Jerry Jones wants another team in Texas. Tepper will unquestionably demand a new stadium within the next five years though, and the city will need to foot some of the bill. Also, the state will have to pony up. I'll be shocked if they do.

Can you elaborate on this “continued collapse” you mentioned?

80 of the top 100 TV programs last year were football, and a mediocre NFL franchise just sold for over 2 billion dollars.

Oh sorry, let me be clear, I wasn't referring to contrived obscure statistics that were sought out to prop up a narrative, I was referring to the continued meteoric drop of viewership and the inevitable collision it will have with players and personnel who have become accustomed to a certain lifestyle, the bubble that will pop when the lifeblood TV contracts adjust to reflect interest

Sorry if you thought I was referring to huffpo or some other blog site

I can't recall a previous time when a property like this went to anyone other than the highest bidder.

I know there are concerns about Navarro, but that doesn't explain Kestenbaum or Rubin.  And you've got the NFL seeming to actively discourage Rubin despite his being a business partner.

Rubin probably could have paid what Tepper is paying, especially with Tsai behind him.  Heck, maybe Navarro or Kestenbaum could have too.

Pretty clear they wanted Tepper above all else.

It is all very strange.  Honestly though aside for JR and his ownership group what does the league care?  Now if I am a minority stakeholder I would be firing up a call to my attorney.  I would also love to hear if JR took this standing up.  The league basically said that an NFL team is 20% off if you are pre approved by the NFL.  Why even have a "list of items to be an owner" like 30% stake, X number of minority shareholders?  Just change it to "CASH, but if not that other crap we spouted."   Maybe now we get a few more things go our way since we are pals with the league office..

I thought I remembered reading that Navarro would have trouble coming up with the $325M up front money for whatever reason, but I could just be imagining that. Regardless, the owners more than likely want the read deal owner who could pay for all of the franchise by himself, regardless if he was already in the club or not. Damn I just used regardless twice in one sentence, that has to be illegal.

TV viewership is down across the board, not exclusive to the NFL. The NFL still dominates television. Also, Not sure where you are going with your “lifeblood TV contracts” comment - FOX essentially just handed the NFL 3.3 billion dollars for Thursday Night Football for the next five years.

The NFL isn’t going anywhere. Sure, they have some issues they need to address, but they aren’t the professional sport yanking 20 thousand seats out their venues and significantly losing tv viewership like NASCAR.....

For everyone saying dont be concerned about moving...  this starts the same way everytime...  an out-of-towner/stater steps in and the stadium issue lingers.  Just like the owners used Rubin and Navarro to drive up the price while knowing they were picking Tepper, it worries me that he will use similar tactics with other cities as leverage to either get a new stadium OR move the team if he doesnt get his way, to maximize his return on his investment.  This region, this organization, this fanbase means nothing to him.  This is strictly a money making endeavor for him and the city or state he does it in will be an afterthought.  I just hope we can win a Superbowl before he moves the team, and that will be something that can never be taken away from me.
