Tepper mentioned the idea of bringing an MLS team to Charlotte because Charlotte has hosted multiple International Champions Cup matches in the last few years and all of them have pulled at least 50K people

when he mentioned about the minority partners and not knowing how much development he wants to do, he's talking about whether or not he wants to build a stadium (for NFL, MLS, who knows what other major events).

it would be harder to make moves on building a stadium with minority partners having their own points of view and interests. nothing too complicated, but that is the nature of how business partnerships work.

if you've got the flexibility to buy without minority partners, it's a different calculus when deciding whether to bring any on vs needing local partners to have the money to get the team in the first place.

Makes sense. It somehow got slipped in there with the charity comments and wasn't clear to me.

Would be nice for him to not need to show revenue pie charts to anyone but himself.

Press conference transcript here

(doesn't include the hair jokes)

Questions were asked by Katie Peralta, Ian Rapoport and Joe Person.

I was laughing out loud at the hair jokes. The first with Rap was great enough, but then the joking with Person!! I came very close to spewing coffee all over my computer...!

He was voted Class Clown at his high school for a reason.  He's a funny guy.

But again, you can also get a feel for what it's like to work for him.  The way he turned the location question back on Rapoport, for example.

FYI: Jerry Richardson's name has already been removed from the "Staff" page on the Panthers website.

Based on Tepper's comments, it doesn't sound like he has any actual decision making power until the sale is final in July, but aesthetically speaking, the team is moving on.

So I just realized, this is the first-ever Panthers owner's press conference that I've seen in the 6 years I've been obsessed with the team!!!!

Tepper is already promising to be a huge breath of fresh air!

Yeah. General impression is that Tepper will be a lot more accessible to the media than Jerry Richardson has been.
