Jimmy Clausen is still trash

What is with this sympathy for Jimmy Clausen ? This post would be accurate if it was about Matt Moore. 

Jimmy Clausen gave the worst and most cowardly performances of a QB I’ve ever seen. He has no excuse. Sure he played bad. He just wasn’t good. But he played cowardly. That’s why he gets hate. He never threw the ball farther than 10 yards in his entirety of snaps. 

Matt Moore was handed a bad situation. Jimmy Clausen got overdrafted, sucked, and was given a starting gig over a guy who was leaps and bounds better than him. We did not field a competitive team because Jimmy Clausen didn’t want to risk INTs and had beef with Smith. 

I don’t actively hate Clausen but I’m not gonna have revisionist history about him and act like he played with any kind of grit or heart to help the team win. Because he didn’t.

I’m tipsy and maybe my memory fails me  but Moore started that year but got injured.  Clausen then started and sucked, I won’t argue that.  He was terrible.  But that whole year was a feverdream, we literally started Brian St. Pierre at QB at some point.  Man, what a depressing year.  

I don’t think anyone gives clausen props for his play.  More that he sucked, he knew he sucked, and he took getting benched with grace for the new guy to take over.  Never heard one complaint out of the guy even though the franchise was a dumpster fire when he came in.

We did not field a competitive team because JR took the year off. Clausen also threw downfield plenty of times. He just didn’t have the arm to complete a lot of them. He completed a 45-yard pass in his first start. Your bias clouds your memory. He gets more blame than he deserves.

Do what???  Cam doesn't get a pass because Cam doesn't need a pass, he's got the talent that Clausen just doesn't.

He's also decidedly a good guy, and that "give the ball away" celebration is far and away my favorite thing any athlete has ever done.  He changes lives.
