Ohio State whacked Jim Tressel for lying, so it wouldn’t be the first time they fired a very successful coach. Tressel actually broke NCAA rules though which I don’t think Meyer has to this point.

like I said though I have seen how these NCAA “scandals” can spiral out of control. Especially with social media and click hungry reporters. This could be the tip of the iceberg and you never know what other info could leak out. Ohio State is doing the right thing and getting out in front of it, being proactive unlike some of the other big ten schools have handled stuff like Michigan State and Penn State.

Meyer did worse than broke NCAA rules- he violated Title 9 rules of not reporting assault allegations. And the ex-wife that was the victim supposedly has emails proving the assault was reported and ignored.

Yup saw that as well. I think he’s going to be fired, but the guy is obviously an elite college FB coach and tOSU is probably going to look for a reason to give him a second chance, if they can.

Keep in mind, this isn’t the only problem tOSU is dealing with - they are dealing with another issue similar to what happened at MIch State. They have a doctor that dealt with athletes who has been accused of molesting and sexually assaukting student athletes.

Continuing the trend of corruption

I’m kidding around. If Meyer is fired he will prob have to sit for a year or so and let things cool off before he gets another job. He isn’t Art Briles, he will get another job.

if Fedora can’t muster up the 7-8 wins this year that it will take to probably save his job- my money is Les Miles or PJ Fleck as the next coach at UNC. Carolina hired a shady coach a couple years ago and that obviously blew up in their face so I doubt they will bring in anyone with in red flags once Fedora is rightfully let go.

Fedora was in the ACC championship game a mere three seasons ago. You can't fire a guy like that.

Yes you can. Especially when he runs his mouth at media day and comes across like an ignorant jackass and embarrassed the school. Not to mention a few hours after his regrettable media day comments, there were several players facing a suspension for selling their athletic gear which they know they aren’t supposed to do.

Check out Fedora’s record vs duke, NCSU, and ECU. You a UNC fan?

Bitonio signed for 6 years/$52M as an OG.

I get your point but it's hard for me to work up much sympathy with that kind of money.

IMO any team with a lineman who has a college season or more of LT experience should be giving that guy reps at LT. You need backups and especially at LT. Have the Browns even tried Bitonio at LT, or are they just going on his college experience? Looks like more of Cleveland's pathetic planning to me.

Meyer is probably done at OSU. College culture is changing where no one is safe from condoning or hiding any kind of abuse to people, including these coaches who have "God-like" status on their campuses.

On another note, Mewhort's knees must be in terrible freaking shape for him to be retiring after only four years in the league.

At least based on what I've read, Meyer didn't do anything himself. And that'll probably be the argument people use to defend him.

He did reportedly cover up someone else's domestic violence incidents though. And frankly, that's inexcusable.

You don't let a woman be victimized for the sake of winning football games.

Don’t think this has anything to do with winning games. The guy accused of domestic violence is the grandson of Earle Bruce, a former Buckeye coach. Probably why Urban kept his mouth shut

Any Brandon LaFell fan still out there?

Bengals just cut him.

His agent said "we have been lobbying for his release for some time now and appreciate the bengals granting our request".

I'm sure he will find a job somewhere but with our current depth and lack of cap space I don't think we will show any interest.

Don't insult me like that lol. I do have a child attending that place so I semi keep up with them. Fed does come off like an ignorant bumpus but his only bad season was last season so I can't believe they would fire him yet. Next to Butch Davis Fed is a choirboy.
