O-line not lost to Rivera (or maybe it is)

top dawg

I've seen a lot of insinuation that Rivera is simply and completely clueless about the O-line problems, but Tim Weaver of USA Today reported a little "gem" I hadn't heard---not saying that it hasn't been reported, but I hadn't heard about it, which probably means others missed it too.

"On Thursday, the normally cool Rivera snapped on the unit for its lack of progress and even dropped an F-bomb in the bargain. The offensive line may turn out to be Carolina’s Achilles heel this season."

Now most of us know there is something called coach-speak (where the coach says one thing in public, but is really thinking another), and though I don't know for sure what's rolling around in Rivera's dome, I suggest that he's not as clueless---or maybe even as steadfast in his belief that vets must play---as many in the Huddle think.

In any event, whether Rivera is clueless, or simply maneuvering the hand that he has been dealt, let's hope that the the savior of our O-line doesn't just chill, but comes to r rescue...

OK, folks, the last line is admittedly a tad corny, but more than what it seems:

Achilles - chill + r = Ares

Rivera, Turner, and Matsko are all gonna have input into who starts on the OL. I can't believe that 2 out of 3 of those are gonna watch film and settle on Amini. I think Rivera's penchant for favoring vets is giving Amini every opportunity to win the job, but in the end, I have to believe the best player will start there.

Anyone who thinks they know more about the state of the team than than Rivera is a fool.

I don't really think that it's about that.

Most weaknesses of a team are pretty obvious. Where some people may go too far is thinking that the coach is a fool, even though he is just dealing with the realities of the situation (which are generally behind a curtain that fans aren't privy to).

    • I thought he was from watching him play and also doing his first HC job. I thought he was the real deal  Apparently what happened is Kraft committed to Mayo and I don’t remember the timeline exactly - but Vrabel was unemployed at the same time Belichick was unemployed. They both were fired after the 2023 season.  Kraft hired Mayo. Who was kind of an obvious disaster. He probably already had the deal in place but I will give Kraft credit for not sleeping. With Vrabel out there for 2025 he made the move he needed to make and if it hurt Mayo’s feelings then oh well.  I guess you can tell I am not fond of Kraft but that was a really savvy move. At his age, pretty good. Still has it.
    • It’s going to feel like a home game for the bills. There are so many of their fans that live down here now, and many of them have never seen Allen play in person since their last visit was 8 years ago. It didn’t matter for the cowboys game, but it might here. I think we likely lose a close one. Probably a questionable flag or two that doesn’t go our way. X factor for Buffalo will be Kincaid and Knox. If we do win it’s because we get ahead and play keep away from Allen. FYI- I have many friends who are Bills fans that are fed up with Beane who we all revere and think is the one that got away. They feel like he was great to land Josh but has done a terrible job of building around him (especially at WR) and rely on him to become super man to win- sounds kind of familiar, like the last time we had a franchise QB.
    • I always thought of him as an uptight military family dude, didn't know he needs to wash that mouth out with soap lol.
