Panthers already have 5 locks at wide receiver, and Byrd ain't one of them.

The only shot Byrd has of making this team is if the Panthers keep 6 which is far from guaranteed considering CMC lines up in the slot and even on the outside quite a bit.

I'd be shocked if Byrd doesn't make the roster. He was dynamic pre injury last year. At the very least for his kick return ability

Why is Torrey Smith considered such a lock? He is not fast anymore. He was well below the league average last year for average max speed for wide receivers. One could argue not only is he not fast, he is now slow. Was Torrey ever really known for his hands?

Considering the poo show at WR last season I’d be shocked if they didn’t find a way to keep him. They’ll probably keep 2 TEs and use Armah as the 3rd/emergency TE to free up another space for WR

 When? When does a 3rd TE play? We bring in an extra OT(Moton last year) when we need extra run blocking. Armah at FB. Thomas is #2 already. You really keeping Manhertz(or similar player) over one that can be a weapon at least 3-4 times a game?

If for no other reasons than they traded for him and he's obviously a better receiver than Bryd.

We kept 6 receivers last year, why are some of you acting like it's some difficult thing to do. 

KB / Funch / Shepard / Samuel / Byrd / Clay 

If memory serves were the six that we ended up with to close out the final 53, and eventually Bersin returned due to injury. 

We kept 4 HB's last year, and CAP barely played, Whit got a couple touches, I could see us dropping CAP, and keeping Hood on the PS with Barner as the 3rd back on the depth chart. But again we kept four HB's and six receivers out of camp last year.

I could also see an immediate free space due to the fact WE CLOSED CAMP WITH TWO KICKERS!

The numbers game to keep Byrd's ability around isn't a hard one to sort is all I'm saying, I think he's a lock, no one behind him is dynamic in any way we've seen .

frankly I don't think there's any real shot Byrd goes anywhere, after all, every credible reporter from camp has made mention of the strong preseason he's had

That trade was hogwash. The Eagles would've gave him away for nothing. Pretty much both teams saying, "here, we don't want this guy anymore." Fantasy!?!? News flash - no one in any fantasy league SHOULD want either one of these guys! Both are irrelevant in that world.

It bothers me that we'd rather try and squeeze the last ounce of talent out of Torrey Smith instead of making an investment in Byrd who IMO has proven to be a play maker with game changing speed who could be a piece of our roster for the next 3-4 seasons and not just 1.
