Panthers Creating New Front Office Position

Yeah step one should be mending fences with 89 as far as alumni affairs go. He definitely played a part as well but it’s a shame he’s not closer to this franchise. He put the entire franchise on his back for years (offensively at least) and I Really hope we can get it done. There should be NO question as to what jersey Smitty retires in. He’s a Panther for life and I hope he someday feels the same.

Smith is a asshole and I could care less about him retiring here.

That's like your opinion man. In reality, having spent time with him, he is a genuinely really good dude. Just passionate and was done wrong here after an incredible career.

Actually there is a long history to back me up and you are the one with opinions.

Among many other things, Bruce’s job with one of the most competitive beats in the business often included the equivalent of playing referee to a street fight. But he never once raised his voice, and he treated all of us with kindness, respect & equality. A good man.

As someone who has personally spent more time with Mr. Smith than anyone on this board I can attest to him being unapproachable and an outright narcissistic personality. While he may open up if he knows you, he most certainly has some mental barriers and issues going on.

Not something I hold against him, but will recognize the fact.

    • Question to the posters on this thread because you are knowledgeable--I love watching and pull for the Canes, but I never played so I don't have the understanding I had when I played football then watched it.  Having said that, Do you think we are weak at Center?  I see the team to be pretty strong on the wings, promising defense, and weak at Goalie.  It would be ideal if the Canes had 1 more position to upgrade, not 2.  I don't think you can count on Anderson to play a full season and he is 35.  However, are we solid at Center in your view?
    • Couldn't agree more, Kooch is erratic and Freddy is fragile, maybe save the remaining cap space for a goalie stud at the deadline
    • There is one play that sold me-- it was around 2:38, I think.  It was 4th and 1 and the QB telegraphed and threw the ball out wide to TMac.  He had no blocking (the TE was very late) and four defenders collapsed on TMac behind the LOS. They seemed to know it was coming.  He got hit behind the LOS and battled through several hits to get three yards.  THAT play showed me his fire.
