Not Jared Allen, but not  a scrub either.

"Although he's leaving a Super Bowlcontender, perhaps Robison will catch on with another powerhouse club that will allow him to chase a ring one last time before he hangs up his helmet."

I know some of you are excited about Obada (me too based on his play against some level of backups), but is he really ready? Robison would bring another veteran presence and good depth.

Obada is going to the better of the two plus Obada is on his upside not downside of his career

If you watched, he clearly did. This is just typical of this board. Guys with names people know are always better. I’d bet most of the posters above have no clue he’s 35 or that Horton was a productive pass rusher as a backup.

I was just looking it up and have compared him to Mario Addison career wise.

addison was a udfa, made the team as a back up for a few years then at age 27 he got 6.5 sacks. He repeated then got 9 and 10 sacks and is one of the best DE in the league.

Horton Had his breakout year at age 27 as well. 5.5 sacks as the 4th DE is pretty impressive. Now he is the #3 DE and with peppers and Addison in their 30s I could see him get more snaps and eventually take over when Peppers leaves.

I honestly believe Horton could become the next Addison.

only time will tell.

No he’s not. Robison is 35, Horton 28. Robison isn’t Peppers. Robison has been trending down the past 4 years and Horton up. Horton had more sacks last year even though he was known as a run stopper before. He played very well last year. Amazing how we never appreciate our own.

Horton plays well because of the guys with him. So let's not act like he's something special and coveted around the league. We've cut him before, and he stayed on the couch until we called him back up. That being said, I've always appreciated him for what he is, and maybe you're right that Robinson has seen his best days, but he still probably has a higher ceiling than Horton. Not worth really arguing over though.

I'm not that guy, and not that I needed it, but even the article I linked talks all about his age, so...

And, most of the frequent posters here know this team, so Horton hasn't done anything that we don't know.

Same could be said about Robison. Rest of Minnesota’s DL is pretty solid. Definitely think Horton is under appreciated. I watched all the games and he was pretty solid and got good pressure. Some guys like Addison take time but Horton of 2017 wasn’t the same guy as the one on the couch. He even looked solid when we finally really Kony was trash. He got his wake up call and responded.

I disagree, but understand your opinion. My opinion is that Horton has basically been the same since he's gotten here. But you apparently believe he has flashed. I'm not that optimistic.

It's all good. Just a different perception.

    • That Peter Principle is the real deal a whole lot of times.  And HC just seems to me to be a totally different job than the subordinate positions of coordinator (all three phases, I think John Harbaugh was a ST coach) . Anyhow it is real easy for HC people to be overwhelmed and unprepared. Such a different job. Those that hire ex HCs as mentors or coordinators are smart. But many just suck at it.  You have to have all the organization in place, front office too.  I tend to be supportive, at this stage, of the people we have and would be willing to stick with them like 5 years before judging their future. Because we need to establish continuity. At some point I would like to have OC that called the plays. It is too much for one guy.
    • Maybe. That's not a Bills team that has been playing very elite, however.  If it is close or we win, I am not exactly gonna chalk that up to us being a contender.
    • Eagles and Ravens come to mind
