one thing that has crossed my mind...he could have signed the contract we were offering and have been set for life.  When he got injured, I was thinking what if he's done and he left all the money on the table.

And we could really be benefiting from him not signing early.  Because he knows this is an important contract year, I'm sure he felt a lot of pressure to get back on the field as soon as possible.  But if he already had a big paycheck, would he be quite as motivated to get on the field this quickly?
