I was wondering the same thing, but then wondered why cam threw to a rookie that was triple covered to win the game, figured the refs just laughed at us at the end

You wondered why Cam threw to him at the end after watching all those drops/tipped passes from the other receivers?

In just 2 passes thrown his way, DJ Moore had one long score, and another very close one to tie the game inside the end zone as time expired.

Maybe instead of looking for a reason to ridicule Cam Newton, you could instead ask why it took being down big late in the 4th quarter to finally get DJ Moore actively involved. This on the road against a bitter division rival. That is just pitiful.

He almost caught the ball. He had a better chance of catching the ball triple covered than Funchess or Smith would with single coverage.

Not that it matters, but did anyone see the flag after the last play at the top of the screen? Why didn’t they address it? One of the falcons taunted Moore it could have been that or from when one of them mugged him. Would either of those penalties put us at the 1?

I think it was Atlanta’s mascot foot - he was standing on the sideline and then ran up to the play after pass was ruled incomplete

I initially thought the same thing!

Well said. It’s also worth mentioning that he was being mugged and I’m pretty sure his face mask was being tugged too. The fact all that happened and he almost caught it means we can trust this kid.

Damn, you may be right. Do you still have it recorded or do you have a clip you could share? I’d love to see it again

I was impressed honestly. DJ Moore nearly had it. Cam threw a solid throw too to give him a chance.

    • Absolutely. He just turned 27 a few days ago, so quite young. He and Moehrig would be quite the pairing.  I know we say this every year, but this FA period has A LOT of talent that will be switching uniforms. We were aggressive last year and have no doubt this time next week will have some studs on defense.
    • DJ Moore has always been a bit of an enigma. He came here young, flashed a ton of potential, but never truly grew into a real #1. He’s had a few good reasons, but yet to have a real monster season (outside of his first year with Chicago) We’re still waiting for him to blossom, but he will be 29 next season. I fear that it is too late for him at this point.
    • I have considered free agency.  LT?  Either not good enough or too expensive.  Besides, this is a good OT draft.  (I would rather have a free agent, mind you, but the Panthers' reality suggests we can't do it without neglecting other positions).  What LTs are available in free agency, and what do you expect to pay?  Any Ickey-level OT is going to cost over $20m.   How much do we already have invested in our OL?  I get your point, but I do not think you can spend over $100m per on your OL. We have 2 guards and a right T who pull in about $75m per season.  We don't have a center yet.  Teams just don't let good LTs hit free agency, and when one does on rare occasion, he is expensive.  If you want a third of the Panther cap going to 5 Offensive Linemen, free agency is the way to go.  We still need S, ILB, Edge, WR, etc. I think we'd need more than Nijman--and I would understand if we went free agent for a T--but that is putting a TON of your cap at OL--so considering our situation, I do not see that option as preferable.  You may disagree. If I was not talking LT on our line and thinking about the cap, I would agree 100%.
