Trying to temper my excitement

But we may have hit on our first lottery pick in awhile.

Dude has shown flashes on D, with athletic blocks, running the floor well etc

Oh and he's 8-15 from 3 point range in the 3 games.

We wanted Kawhi, the best 3 and D in the league.  Well we may have drafted another really good one to be coached under a guy who coached Kawahi

This gentleman looks legit and I think it's fair to say it's not too soon.

If we start by giving Miles, Malik, and Willy all over 18 min/gm min, they will be as effective as the starters and we could rack up some wins this season.  Would love to see Graham in sprinkles by mid-season if Parker is showing his age.

I feel like he's been everything that we always hoped MKG would be

Full disclosure...  the similarities in scouting reports was the exact reason I did not want to pick him and was extremely disappointed when we did, as I thought due to our history with athletic, defense-first, hustle-until-you-develop guys would dictate that he wouldn't pan out...

I am happy to report that I am ecstatically eating heaps of crow as I type this.  Miles is the real deal.  I remember talking with one of my friends who is a NYK fan, and he optimistically said he thought Bridges could end up like Larry Johnson, while our history led me to skeptically point to Anthony Bennett.  So far, he looks a lot like LJ...  First rookie to be really excited about in a long time.

Also, I wasn't super excited about Borrego's hire either, compared to some of the names that were out there (Fizdale, Stack, etc.), but man, I think we got that move right too for the first time in a long time (or ever).  Just hearing his strategy, philosophy, and views about the team presently and moving forward (including playing the best players and getting shots up in the first 8 seconds or so of the shot clock) just gets me hyped.

    • What I love and hate about this team is it’s more filled with potential breakout players than ever before. JT, XL, Coker, Smith-Wade, Ikem, Trevin… and even Bryce are all guys I could legitimately see taking the next step. But the problem with having so many of those guys is that team success somewhat relies on them taking that step, and some are bound not to. That being said, I’m cautiously optimistic given our softer schedule, the way the offense clicked late last year, and the direction we finally have at GM, coach, and QB. Could see us as a sneaky playoff team.
    • Me, signing up for FanDuel Network, and then canceling FanDuel Network:
    • Smith-Wade for me. He has the path to some decent hefty snaps in Evero’s scheme. He held his own last year and improved as he continued to get snaps— If he makes some strides, could be a very capable nickel.  I agree with Sanders. Bryce had some trust in him that final Falcons game post crazy head-stand.  Bryce looked for him a lot that final game and made some critical catches to get us the W. Seems he’s put in major work so I’m hopeful about him.  Wallace will have an offseason under his belt. I like him a lot, was higher graded than most remember in his draft (I.e Brugler had him LB3/70 overall) but he isn’t as cerebral of an LB as we’re used to. I think he could thrive if we get D captain/film-junky type next to him— because right now that’s Jewell.  Still a bit cautious but love the talent. Rozeboom may snag some playing time from him if he’s still working out the kinks.
