He will get his carries if we get up and need to use up the clock. Cmc offers more both receiving and breakaway threat

I’m not saying that, of course Cmc is a beast, but I don’t think it’s out of the question to give CJ more carries. Maybe instead of a second and short pass, we go CJ up the middle etc.?

Why are you so worried about c js touches?,

I highly doubt CAP is back next year. He’s hardly been given an in-game opportunity to succeed and it’s not his fault, he’s just behind a top five running back. He’ll go to a team like San Francisco, Miami, Seattle, or Indianapolis; a team with a muddled backfield with the opportunity to prove himself.

I doubt Fozzy will be back as his skill set is redundant with McCaffrey on the roster and he will be 30 by the time the season starts.

If anything I’d bet C.J. will be back. He bet on himself and while it’s not his fault he’s not getting touches, he’s also not blowing the doors off with the touches he’s been given. His yards per carry is a little misleading because outside of the Dallas and Atlanta game he’s been stagnant. I doubt he receives much interest on the open market.

I certainly see a late round running back in our future next year. Guys like Ito Smith (late 4th round) and Jordan Wilkins can be found and stashed until needed.

So is he officially done here barring any injury to CMC or CJ? CAP has yet to get a carry this season with CJ Anderson taking over as the backup. Hopefully he gets a chance elsewhere and proves Ron Rivera wrong. I always liked him as a runner

I honestly don't understand why we spent the money on Anderson if we weren't going to use him.

On top of the fact that CAP could likely do pretty much what Anderson has been asked to do thus far.

Agreed. I am not sure why it isn't hard to understand that CMC and CJ are clearly better than CAP.

Please explain in detail how what Anderson has done in his very little playing time thus far is "clearly better" than what CAP has done at Carolina in his very little playing time.

Because, honestly, I don't see it.

I'm not even saying that CAP is better than Anderson, I'm just saying, from the opportunities provided via the HC and OC, how has Anderson, in a Carolina jersey, proven he is "clearly better"?

If he thinks he could sign with a team to get a better opportunity at being a #1 RB, why would he resign here to be a backup?

And I'm wondering why, for many, Anderson's 4.0 ypc is as delicious as fresh buttered bread out of the oven, yet CAP's 4.0 ypc over his years was proof he just wasn't good enough?

It’s probably because c j was a lead back for one season and the perception that he’s better than a backup like cap Doesn’t mean he’s better than cap just that c j had gotten more opportunity than cap

What I am saying is I don’t think that he will get that opportunity. He had an above average season last year and didn’t get the offer he was looking for, he’s certainly not doing anything to help his case this year.

And as for the second question, I would assume because one player has that average over 700 attempts and the other player has that average over 100 attempts. It’s not CAP’s fault but for a backup position I’d suspect we’d be more interested in the more proven commodity.

Like I said, I suspect CAP to sign with a team who has a muddled backfield with the hopes of getting some carries.

    • I hope you understand that this Anti Bryce thing as you call it is really a pro Panthers thing. I think I can safely use we. We want the best for the Panthers.  As far as this other post saying ‘Anti’ Bryce people do misinformation.. you mean like going all in on “Renfro should have caught” that poorly thrown ball? I guess it was week 1. And calling it a drop. Comical btw.  I wonder, did you call that out or let it slide because it aligned with your agenda?
    • These are great posts with the comparisons and the numbers.   I haven’t lookyat Smity’s numbers since probably the first time he was on the ballot.  But if you watched every week you know what he is. Whatever his yardage or targets numbers were.  He was fuging dominant. I have watched since the AFL days and seen who there is to see. There are many great WRs over the years. GREAT WRs. Smitty is up there in the game of football.
    • Smith is clear cut HOF if you judge what he did by reception. Fitzgerald was a stat padder.    The most Steve Smith was ever targeted in his career was in 2005 (150 targets). The same year he wins the triple crown.    Larry Fitzgerald was targeted more than 150 times over 9 separate seasons. Not once eclipsing 1500 yards in a season.    The over glazing of Larry Fitzgerald going around is way over blown. ARZ was top 10 in passing attempts nearly his entire prime. Steve Smith and Andre Johnson had it far worse and would have surpassed his #s in the same situation.
