Then why kneel during the Anthem? Why dont Reid go kneel outside CMPD then. Reid is all about promoting himself and Colin. They want to be this generation of Tommie Smith and John Carlos during the Olympic.

Flag does not equal military

The anthem isn’t just about that damn military  for goodness sake .  That flag and that song represents all of us civilians and all.  That flag and that song represent the history of this country which isn’t pretty if I must add, we have stepped on a lot of people‘s toes to get to where we are and that is what it is. because is just not the military making sacrifices for this country I know you’d like to believe that but that’s just not the truth some of the very first people who helped establish this country we’re not in the military they were sample people who join together and rebelled

Because kneeling during the anthem is getting more people talking. And people won't let it go so there's no need to change tactics. Stop making a big deal out of it and he'll have to fine a different way to peaceful protest to keep people talking.

It gets people talking for the wrong reasons. That's all this has done so far. People have gone off the rails on both ends when it comes to this issue.

Personally, I never really cared about the anthem protests when it came to Kaep/Reid. It was never about the military. And this is coming from a 12 year veteran currently serving and registered republican, who has been called a racist and bigot on this forum by people who don't know anything about me.

That being said, I have always recognized the right of people to peacefully protest in public, just as I recognize private enterprise and property rights for employers who may not want their name or brand attached to certain ideas or causes. I will always support people's right to peacefully protest. The team obviously supports him now. Glad he has an understanding employer.

What I don't support are stupid antics. With Kaep I only really got irritated with the pig socks and Castro shirt. Just like the blackface comparison from the Philly reporter irritated me.

I shook my head when Reid went after Malcolm Jenkins. A guy who went another direction to cause change, and he gets treated like trash for not toeing the line. Not a good look for their cause. And it keeps people talking about this for the wrong reasons. It dilutes his message and forces people in to a position defending him against people who point their fingers at all of this as a reason to discredit his political stance.

Honestly, I’m surprised you know who those two gentlemen are.

Can't remember where I saw it but the guy who got the Silver medal from Australia gave Carlos the black glove and totally supported the protest.  To the point where instead of returning to the then Apartheid rule in Australia as a national hero he was denied a job anywhere and eventually died penniless, refusing to disavow his support for his American competitors.  When he died both Carlos and Smith were among his pallbearers.  Great story.

If u look at the picture he is wearing a civil rights pin, and u are correct about the pallbearers. Great story indeed.

What are u talking about? And even if they do its for a great cause. They happen to care about there relatives and non relatives. Making sacrifices on a big stage that really no one else had balls to do. This is how movements are started. If it is not on big stage and repeatedly it eventually is swept up under the rug. Racism has not been erased from the country,  but being sustain in smarter ways than before. Out of sight out of mind right?!

its just so stupid to do the anthem where people are drinking heavily to me.   its fake patriotism, again, to me.  a lot of what goes on is against the flag code.  and then you've got people who literally feel the anthem and the flag are solely about reflecting on their lost loved one, and some are drunk, and they really feel like people are disrespecting their loved one personally.   its a frikkin mess all the way around and i sincerely wish it wasn't don'e at sporting events.   i also don't want to hear a stupid frikkin prayer before a gladiator event.  its literally idiotic to pray before we watch violence.   i mean, unless the prayer was 'why do we love violence so much?'     i can't stand being asked to stand in a stadium full of fake boobs, face lifts, fat people, and everything else you see there.  it makes me feel gross.

Sounds like you have a lot of personal problems.  Maybe you should seek out a professional.  The Huddle is probably not the best place to seek such advice.  Not being funny btw.
