To lock up long term or not?

Next season we obviously will have many holes to fill in defense. Something that has been overlooked recently is the decline of our O line. We undoubtedly have talent at all skill positions who are young and have pro bowl talent, however as of recent the left side of our line has played very rough. Knowing that Matt Kalil will almost certainly be on the team one last season due to that contract ... do you re sign Williams and have huge money tied up on both  tackles or do you let Williams walk and go with Kalil and Moton next year? It is already uncertain how Larsen will fill in at center, and honestly Roten should be depth only (did you see him flat on his back against Tampa multiple times??) Put on your GM hat and tell me how you would roll with this (please do not say sign Williams for cheap because even if he signs for a one year prove it deal it will not be cheap. You are not able to sign an extremely young tackle who was voted all pro cheap.)

PS...Mick Mixon should be fired along with Rivera.

Cut Kalil, both.  Extend Moton and place a 2nd round tender on Williams.  Extend Van Roton possibly and make Larsen the new Center.

Didn’t they already re sign Roton and Larsen to team friendly deals this offseason? Roton has been serviceable but definitely inconsistent throughout the year. He has had a few rough games

Maybe, can't remember.  He's quality depth so he's worth a small pay raise.

Locking up anybody long term is always kinda iffy when you're looking at possible changes in coaching.

True but letting a 26 year old tackle who was voted all pro before he got hurt go is also tough because many teams will throw cash knowing that they can have a spot locked down for the next 5 years

Who is? This is a legit question about a tough situation. We have the ability to have two young elite tackles for years to come but have a hurdle in Matt Kalils contract....and the uncertainty of a new unproven center and sub par left guard play along with many holes on defense. What we do with Williams can effect the cap or our entire line play based off the decision we make. When have we ever had the opportunity to have two good tackles to proctect cam at the same time? It hasn’t happened

    • there is one common denominator in the 2003 & 2015 Carolina Panthers teams they both had ELITE top tier Qb play.  it would require a MVP type of season from Bryce Young to have the same type of success that Jake Delhomme had in  2003 & or Cam Newton in 2015 & lead this team to a SuperBowl is this going to happen or is there any reason to believe Bryce Young is capable of playing similar to Jake Delhomme in 2003 or Cam Newton in 2015 ? well no there is no absolutely NO reason whatsoever to believe that this is going to happen in 2026 ..just saying
    • I'd actually like to see Cherelus get a fair shot to win the job in camp. Wallace is decent in drop zone coverage, but he gets abused in the play action game and is often times out of position in the run game. It might just be me, but I swear every time I watch Wallace play, I see multiple plays a game were it looks like he's just trying to be blocked. Watching Cherelus last year he at least looked like he was trying to hit someone on every play. Wallace plays like a LB who doesn't trust what he sees and it makes him passive and cautious versus Cherelus who regardless of if his decision is right or wrong goes at it 100%.
    • Agreed.  Hasn’t happened to me either, but I feel very strongly about it.  That’s not just one of the worst things a woman could do to a man, it’s a power inherent to only women and is one of the worst things a HUMAN being can do to another.  A man can’t “hide” a pregnancy or maternity.  It’s impossible.  And that sucks for anyone that has to go through that. I always got a weird vibe off her and just found her very unlikeable.  Annoying even.  I’ve always been good at reading people and there was just something about her to me that was off-putting, somewhere under the surface.  And here we are…  she is despicable.
