Leading 13-10 going into the fourth despite two costly turnovers and a missed FG and extra point. Give up a TD to fall behind 17-13, fail on 4th and 5 from the Cleveland 23 in the closing seconds after another length-of-the-field drive comes up just short.

This team sacrificed three close games that could/should have been won with competent defensive playcalling.

This game is gonna unfold exactly like the 2016 season finale at Tampa Bay. We're gonna be livid after we lose a close game that we shouldn't have lost (copyright: Ron Rivera 2018) but it'll help us land a much better player in the draft. If Gano doesn't miss those two chip-shot field goals (copyright: Graham Gano, every year), we don't get Christian McCaffrey.

So thanks Gano for sucking, and we'll probably be glad we lost come April when we're still riding the wave of our top-10 pick and eight-game losing streak.
