2011 Giants started 6-2, lost 4 in a row, then won the Superbowl

I'm one of the most pessimistic people about the Panthers right now, but for those bright eyed naive go-getter type fans looking for hope, here it is.

The 2011 Giants started 6-2, lost 4 games in a row, then finished 9-7 to win their division and ultimately won the Superbowl.

Key difference is, unlike the Panthers soft schedule, they played a murderer's row for their 4 game losing streak. Week 10 against the 8-1 49ers, Week 11 against the 4-6 Eagles (division rival), Week 12 against the 8-3 Saints coming off a bye, and Week 13 against the 12-0 Packers.

But it's happened before, a 6-2 team dropping to 6-6 and winning the Superbowl, so I guess that's something to think about.

I’ve pointed them, Green Bay and Steelers out as examples the last 10 years of teams that were discarded, got it together, and took on greatness at the end.

whether the Panthers have it in them, the lionheartedness to do it in the face of dirty fans is up to them.

it would be epic for sure.

I’m going to believe it’s possible until it’s not.

no, not happening.  cam needs to be sat.   end of season.  figure out shoulder.   last thing he needs is to have to play extra games so rivera can keep a job.  it's our season vs our future.  i love football.  i'm gonna hope cam sits and try and find some joy in people making great plays.

Thanks for the positive thought, but there are things in life that are so improbable, the likelihood of repetition is minimal at best.  For example, in American history, this happened, something unlikely to recur:

The great molasses flood of 1919. A storage tank at a factory in Boston burst killing 21 people and injuring 150 more in a 35 mph tidal wave of molasses.

I hope this point helps us all prepare for the inevitable.   (no, one of the victims was not an ancestor of Kelvin Benjamin, torn between fleeing and baking a huge gingerbread cookie)

It’s unlikely but still possible so I’m cheering for wins and getting into the playoffs. Don’t care about draft spot or coaching staff changes, just want to win out and see where we can go in the playoffs. If we somehow did win it all this year it would be wayyyyy more special than if we had won in ‘15.

Yea ok... let’s look at the d line they had

Teams can win games many different ways. Their DL that year wasn’t even close to as good as 2007, and amazingly they were the 25th ranked D in the reg. season and dead last in rushing... With Rivera running the D now who the hells knows what can happen

    • So, based off the official depth chart, there are a few things I dont like on defense. Bobby Brown III as the backup, with Robinson starting over him,  and our smallest DL starting at NT. I dont like that neither of our 2nd rounder OLBs are starting, so I am hoping for heavy rotation there. Also, David Moore is our punt returner, WTF? Also, our primary backup RB as the KR when we have other capable players like Horn Jr and Trevor?  OFFENSE: WR: *Tetairoa McMillan* - Jalen Coker - *Jimmy Horn Jr.* TE: Tommy Tremble - #James Mitchell# LT: Ikem Ekwonu - Brady Christensen  LG: Damien Lewis - Chandler Zavala C - Austin Corbett - Cade Mays RG: Robert Hunt  RT: Taylor Moton - Yosh Nijman TE: Ja`Tavion Sanders - *Mitchell Evans* WR: Xavier Legette - Adam Thielen - David Moore - #Brycen Tremayne# QB: Bryce Young - Andy Dalton RB: Chuba Hubbard - #Rico Dowdle# - *Trevor Etienne* DEFENSE: LE: A`Shawn Robinson - #Bobby Brown III#  NT: #Tershawn Wharton# - *Cam Jackson* RE: Derrick Brown - Jaden Crumedy LOLB: #Patrick Jones II# - *Nic Scourton* - Thomas Incoom LILB: Trevin Wallace - (Bam Martin-Scott)  RILB: #Christian Rozeboom# - Claudin Cherrelus  ROLB: D.J. Wonnum - *Princely Umanmielen* - D.J. Johnson  LCB: Jaycee Horn - Akayleb Evans - (Corey Thornton) RCB: Mike Jackson - Chau Smith-Wade  SS: #Tre`von Moehrig# - *Lathan Ransom* FS:  Nick Scott - Demani Richardson  SPECIAL TEAMS: K/KO: (Ryan Fitzgerald) P/H: #Sam Martin# KR: #Rico Dowdle# - David Moore - *Trevor Etienne* - *Jimmy Horn Jr.*  PR: David Moore - *Jimmy Horn Jr.* - *Trevor Etienne*  LS: J.J. Jansen  * = Draft Pick # = Free Agent / Trade () = Undrafted Free Agent
    • A couple of these guys might take exception to that, but yea, I get what you’re saying.
