The case I would attempt to make is that the Steeler way is actually not moving on quickly from coaches and exercising patience. Tepper could decide that shaking up the HC position and replacing Rivera could do more damage in the short run, due to a new learning curve, new system, staff, etc...

 

I can also state we always rebound the following season.

Fowler made an effort in today's Observer, but his argument is basically a version of the "it could be so much worse" arguments that have been thoroughly destroyed in other threads already.

It’s not that hard: success. Despite what you see here, he has a well above .500 record and has made four playoff appearances, three of them in a row. He took a 2-14 team to 12-4 in three years and a Super Bowl in five. The players seem to love him. Lately, the team has suffered from a series of personnel decisions (poor drafting and cutting Josh Norman) and injuries but these aren’t on Rivera and are correctable. Additionally, the current HC pool is sub-par One can make a decent case to give Rivera one more year, under a new GM, and going from there.

I'd argue that Rivera's defensive brilliance has been hindered by a DC but thats just it

I think a lot of the local media have argued for Rivera, and some for Hurney too.

Honestly, I think a lot of that is personal connection. Ron and Marty are both really nice guys and both tend to be willing to talk to reporters.

I hate to see bad stuff happen to good people as much as anybody, but the team isn't here to provide gainful employment. They're here to win games.

That's not happening with this current leadership.

This is the best argument that could be made.  This and the suggestion we could end up with Jim Harbaugh instead.  Im still not convinced.
