Would the Panthers be interested in Greedy Williams?

He's a great player but without a pass rush no CB will succeed in our defense. I'm hoping Ed Oliver falls to us if we get pick 7

That’s a defensive tackle. We can’t ignore end any longer if we’re going defensive line. Peppers is 38 and addition is at least 30. Fresh legs needed.

I just said "pass rush", being able to collapse the pocket from the interior would be a godsend from our defense. At 7 we should probably go BPA and ultimately one of the big guys will likely be there at that pick. Outside of Bosa there is no edge I like inside of the top 8.

I think Gary is just as good as Oliver and has the versatility to slide inside and push for the interior same as you would get from Ed Oliver.. whom I love. But after double dipping at dt and butler I just can’t bear another defensive tackle in a super deep defensive tackle class.

We don't need CB with the 1st pick. We have Bradberry, Jackson and Cocktrel. 3 good corners. Get a CB in the 3rd. I agree DE or DT with the 1st pick unless a great OL (especially Tackle) is there. Heck an amazing C to anchor the line would be good to. No matter who, they need to hit a home run.

I think slot was a major weakness.. we don’t know anything about cockrell. If you draft a defensive tackle he right away comes in behind Poe and short sorta of like butler was being star and short. I don’t like the idea of taking  a luxuary defensive tackle when you can get starters right away.

No we need a good corner , we are in the NFC south and have one of the worst secondaries in the NFL . Donte Jackson is solid , cockrell is unknown , bradberry is a decent rotation corner

If we drafted Williams, who would you put in the slot?

Jackson moves to slot in nickel and put greedy on the outside.  Bradberry has one more year left on deal, probably let him walk after next year cuz i dont see him being worth crazy money right now.

Of course

The dude is the mpst hyped and best projected CB to come out of DBU since Patrick Peterson

And there has been some good ones to come out of there since.  Tre'davious White, Donte Jackson, etc.

CB isnt up there with a issue as youd see DL, OL, etc

But any time a elite CB projected top 5 falls, you grab him.  And lets not forget.  Remember the Norman fallout? This is a contract year for Bradberry coming up.  And id be weary of giving him top #1 CB $$ as inconsistent as he's been.  And if he walks after next season, itll be similar to Norman all over.  In the meantime Donte Jackson could play Nickel. And this draft is Deeep at DL so you would still get a solid player in the 2nd

But Greedy aint going to fall to us.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
