In nine years he's had two losing seasons and only missed the playoffs twice. I'd literally carry Pete Carroll piggyback style across the country from Seattle to Charlotte to get him to Carolina.

How much of that is on the strength of one amazing draft, though?

Most of that amazing draft is gone now and despite a pathwork OL and injury issues they still went 10-6 and made the playoffs. That's the difference between a Pete Carroll and a Ron Rivera. We have to catch every break we can to have a winning record under Rivera.

I think that's Russ to be honest.

Dude can play football, doesn't miss games, although he does have an expensive contract.

There's a scene in Major League (just before they bring out Wild Thing) where the veteran pitcher says "I'm throwin' every piece of junk I can at 'em, Skipper".

That line always reminds me of Russell Wilson.

I just think at this point, it's just the way he plays.

Seems like TONS of luck involved in his passing plays, but after this many years?  It's not luck, it's just a knack I think.

He's a damn good QB, but there's a lot of more to it than that. A QB alone doesn't get you 7/9 winning seasons and 7/9 playoff appearances. Ghe Packrfs had back to back losing seasons missing the playoffs with Aaron Rodgers.

The folks in Seattle will never forgive Pete for calling that timeout followed up by a pass play from the 1 yd line in the Super Bowl.

That was admittedly a spectacular blunder and reeked of an arrogant attempt at shifting the offensive star off of Lynch and onto Wilson.

    • I don't think it has. I just think the position has become more and more vital to success. The days of dragging the Trent Dilfers and Brad Johnsons of the world to Super Bowls are over. People will point to Nick Foles but that guy played out of his mind in that Super Bowl run. He didn't play like a Trent Dilfer, he caught lightning in a bottle and played like a Hall of Famer for a very brief but very key period.
    • They did it to themselves but it will work its way back. We are being smart and figuring out the league is not the pass happy one of 2018-2023 and getting ahead of it. Once every team stop running majority double high safety looks and have to commit to the run again, QBs will magically look great again
    • As soon as opponents figure out how to stop Rico Dowdle, Bryce is going to have to win games on his own. It’s going to be ugly because Bryce cannot do that, and we’re all going to want a new QB again. Next year Dan Morgan HAS to bring in a younger veteran QB as backup with Dalton obviously on the way out and no other options on the roster. Someone like a Trey Lance, Zack Wilson, Anthony Richardson, Will Levis, Malik Willis, etc. At least one of those guys will go on to be a decent to good starter in the NFL after time riding the bench.
