TD not returning per WFNZ

Mixed feelings, man. Bittersweet.

1.) Thanks for the memories TD. Hell of a career and youre one of the GOATs

2.) I believe in Shaq so I support this, but I wonder how exactly it went down. Did TD refuse a smaller role or want too much money? Seems like a no brainer depth piece if he was willing to be one, but the fact that he’s shopping around tells me he probably wanted more.

3.) I really wish he would just retire. He’s on the decline, his legacy is here, I don’t see him producing like Smith did post Carolina for example. Guy’s got a lot of love for the game but go home to the family bro and enjoy life in the sunset. Unless he ends up on a contender this seems so unnecessary. 

4.) Sad as this video is I am very encouraged to see that we’re leaving the sentimentality and family loyalty behind with JR. Likewise though I’m glad they did this with more tact than Gettleman used to.

I don’t believe in Shaq at all because he blows ass. I like the guy, but he sucks at what he does. I’m pissed off that nobody from the 2015 team will retire here except CJ and Kalil. I’m also pissed off that TD backed out on his promise to retire. I get annoyed when guys announce their retirement, then change their minds to chase a check or a ring.

Wait, so Hurney actually cut an aging veteran that if some on the huddle are to be believed conspired with Jerry Richardson to run Dave Gettleman out of town, and this is the best you can come up with?

I wouldn't be so sure he is a lock to come back. We cut him and save 9 mil. You telling me I couldn't find a cheaper option in FA better than Shaq Thompson?

I think we may have a new group of LB's next year with Kuechly.

      I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.

      Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.

      Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
