No thanks to Sweat. He is not very good against the run and has stiff hips and gets stood up quite often. You want your ends to be able to bend and get low and Sweat didn't show that ability in games. I think he is much more suited for a 3-4 OLB.

If he is there I want Clelin Ferrell. He is probably the best top ranked DE against the run in this draft and he already has a developed NFL frame. He moves and bends very well for his size. I'd be Happy with Ferrell, Lawrence, or Wilkins at 16.

Id say your spot on but your spot on! 100% agree with your picks. If Sweat n Ferrell are gone I may take the top LT left n double stack DE 2nd n first 3rd. Just my thoughts but loved yours.

Just reread. What is your aignst against Sweat? 6"6 252 coming out with room to grow. Seems like a slam dunk to me. Dudes stats are sick. Hope you warm up to him.

Guess I got your answer in your post but rewatch the senior bowl practices. Those questions are erased. Of course Id take Ferrell too but Ron most likely ruined that for our rah rah fans.

A lot of guys look great during practice but during real games he looks stiff in the hips. That’s why I think he will be more successful as a stand up pass rusher.

He was consistent getting in the backfield in the full on scrimmages

And the game.

He's fluid

Also the thought he may be better in a 3-4

Rivera is talking about going to a hybrid 3-4 which will make him a obvious puzzle piece.

Interesting you mentioned stiffed and then talked about Ferrell.  Some scouts have been questioned Ferrell as stiff and tight hipped.  Quite a few people thought there was real shot he fell to the 15 range.  This was prior his nice showing in the championship game.  He could come into the combine and scouts pick something out in him

I’m no expert but just from the games I have watched this season, Ferrell moves very well for his size and has no problem getting low. He may be a little tight in the hips but not nearly to the extent of Sweat.

Also Ferrell is significantly better against the run which is huge if you’re picking a DE in the first and looking for them to be a day one starter.

Edit: Just want to add I have nothing against Sweat, I just think Ferrell will be a better all around 4-3 DE.

    • Unfortunately NHL contracts can’t be reconstructed so if they are with us they’ll be making what they make.
    • I know but both make too much for what they bring at this point in their careers.    I have more thoughts on the team as currently constructed.   but hey if everyone wants to run back the same coach and mostly the same players for a great regular season followed by more postseason failures, then by all means run it back.
