I just don't see it. How many of those guys would you be happy with having spent a top 10 or even 1st round pick on? I'm coming up with maybe 10 off of a cherry picked list.

I will throw u a bone here...if Cam retired..what would U do in this draft?

Honestly, I still wouldn't draft a QB at 16. I'd take the BPA. I would consider taking a chance on Grier at 47. Having a massive need at QB wouldn't change my opinion of Jones as an NFL QB prospect.

Man...come on.  You would want Will Grier as our starter?  Wow.  All of your arguments are now oxymorons.

I would take Grier over Jones. I've watched Jones for years. I just don't think he's an NFL QB.

Remember, we're talking about PROSPECTS here. Every draft class has 1st rounders that bust and mid to late rounders that become All-Pros, yet every year around this time everyone wants to talk about highly touted guys (and their personal favorites) as if they're sure things. There's no such thing as a sure thing in the NFL draft.

I probably wouldn't take Grier above the 4th round, TBH. He screams 2nd or 3rd string QB, IMO.

That is one thing we legit do have a decent shot at, getting a backup QB. Guys like Grier and Finley would be ideal backup QB's and could be available as late as the 3rd/4th.

Any other tidbits to share Verge?

I'm kind of hoping we do get Grier. I know your source said he's a back up at best and I have to agree. Which is why I want him drafted.

Grier could go as early as the 2nd and as late as the 4th, him and Tyree Jackson are kind of weird that way in where they could go, there is a lot of varied opinions on both, but it only takes one team.

From my personal scouting opinion, I would tend to agree with you, his ball velocity is just not at an NFL level, and he benefits a lot from the system around him. Solid backup who can get the ball out quick, but would struggle if schemed against.

No way Metcalf drops to us. Even if he did I still think we would pass on taking him.

I don’t care if he’s chizzled like a Greek God and is as fast as he is. I’d be pretty pissed if we drafted him with other potential options on the board...he’s getting so overhyped due to the combine...haven’t we all seen this movie before?

I’m not expecting him to either, and from a team standpoint,it would be better if he didn’t because a better fit player may fall in that case, however I’m not 100% opposed to not drafting Metcalf if he’s on the board, I feel like Rivera should be able to field a top 12 defense with what we have currently on the roster.

Metcalf looks the part as far as potential to be the next dominate WR. I don’t know if you can pass on that If our blue chip guys are off the board or rated slightly lower

aj brown is slept on too

    • No you dont.  He had all those records for years before his final season. Whether career or season he had them all years before his final season in which he played 6 games.
    • Williams covered for Moore by saying they were on the wrong page about Moores specific route. Williams could have easily covered for him by saying he messed up. Suggesting only 1 route was ever intended to be a viable target is absurd.
    • I am going to agree with Linville this time--I think we need to get a veteran edge (We have Jones II, Scourton, and Princely--2 developmental guys and a decent veteran).  We don't really think of Jones because he had a hamstring injury weeks 3 and 4 and a back that required surgery Week 6-17.  He still managed 10 pressures, and he will be 28.  Princely Umanmielen only played in approximately 18-20% of the snaps and he struggled at times.  Basically, he was a situational pass rusher.  He got 1.5 sacks and 10 pressures.  He should improve, but for now, he is what he is.  Scourton gives us hope.  For a rookie (and thanks to Jones II's injuries, he was given more PT), he had 8 sacks--and held the edge.  He played at a first-round draft pick level.  He has the potential to become "that guy" in 2026. We lose Wonnum, who played nearly 700 snaps and amassed 3 whole sacks.  For a person raised a Gamecock, I would not be upset if we purged our roster of all South Carolina alumni.   However, I see it this way:  Wonnum was decent holding the edge, something Patrick Jones II and Scourton have demonstrated at a high level.  He is a liability, if you ask me.    Jones had 7 sacks one season in Minnesota and is known for his inside rushing ability--not what you would call a speed rusher.  I think Princely was a bit disappointing, but he was a bit raw.  Out of college, they described him as being a bit predictable.  I see no reason he will not improve in 2026 and become a situational pass rusher.   Basically, with Scourton and Princely expected to continue to develop and Jones II returning from injury, I think we need another veteran (if we can get a good one) to give us balance and depth.  A third developmental player is not ideal.   Draft:  OT, LB, WR, OL depth, S. Free Agency:  Edge, possibly a WR;  re-sign Mays, Cuhran, BC (??), and Nijman.  Let walk:  Wonnum, Scott, Dowdle.  I see about $20m per year after signing the OL depth.  Spend it on a veteran edge.   Players like Reddick (Tampa), Bosa (Buffalo), Khalil Mack (LAC) could be available on a one or two year deal in the $15m range.  We could splurge here, but I think a veteran situational pass rusher (depending on Jones II's back) is all we need while our 2 young guns develop.
