I kinda dreaded this and thought his surgery might mean he was coming back.

Mayo was a key player for us as a backup. Norris is decent, especially on ST, but he isn't the LB, as far as I can tell so far, that Mayo is.

I really think we'll draft another LB this year, and I still haven't written off someone like Devin White in the first.

I think that's Smith's chance to become the main MLB back up and play special teams. We gotta take chances with some guys and save money. Can't sign everybody at every position.

@USC/panthers_11 I see that you're related to David Mayo.  Sorry to burst your bubble that it is good we didn't pay him.  Wish him well, but he should never be on the field at LB for any contending team.

Depends on how much he signed for. TD contract is worth a 6th round pick.
